Ok,
So I tested the G2 prototype today.
To say that I am impressed would be a serious understatement.
This $300ish dollar gun makes me look like I'm a halfway decent shooter.
Too bad I can't post pics straight from my phone.
I had to call in a local buddy and his wife to come shoot it to see if they got similar results.
... They did.
I'm packing up at the permission now, so you guys will have to wait for the results.
When I get home Ill download the pics and you can judge for yourselves.
I can't wait to see what it will do with a little tuning and TLC.
I'm quite pleased with the results so far.

ok so after battling with my 'puter acting up for the last few days, here's the pics for you to judge for yourselves

First pic is the string it shot straight out of the box.
It looks to me like the reg was jumping around a little bit and needed a little time to settle down.

After shooting that first string, I mounted a scope and set about zeroing it in, and just having some fun with it. I put around 100-150 pills down the tube and was getting pretty comfortable with it. The winds were mild with occasional periods of no wind at all.
I set up some targets at a measured 50 yds. and kept an eye on my windsock. When it was basically limp, I'd take my shot.
Looks to me like the regulator was settling in pretty well at this point.

.25 cal DAR Gen2 prototype, straight out of the box, No tinkering, No tuning, No adjusting,
(Ok, Yeah, I did clean the barrel before I started shooting it) but that's it.
3000 psi starting pressure, JSB 25.39, Shot straight out of the tin, No weighing or sorting pellets.
10 shots, 50 yds, no wind.

I was pretty much shocked at what it did ! The first 3 shots basically went through the same hole. I didnt even see the hole growing. Heck I was starting to think I was missing the target completely until the 4th shot the hole got a little bigger than the pellets ! WOW ! 5th and 6th shots the hole didnt change. 7th shot and 8th shot grew the hole a TINY bit, and 9th and 10th shots grew it to the triangle shape.
At this point I was pretty much in disbelief, and figured I needed to repeat it to believe, SOooo I said to myself, "Self,...lets do 20 more shots".
I refilled to 3000 psi, shot 10, refilled again and shot 10 more.
This is what it printed...

To say that I am happy with that, does not even describe it.
About that time, one of my buddies called me and asked if I was still at the permission. I said Yes, and would like him and his wife to come by and take some shots with it. it took them about 30 minutes to arrive, and the wind had picked up a bit. I'm guessing about 7 to 9 mph, judging from the wind sock being about half deployed. My buddy shot another 10 shots (left target) and then the wind stopped for a couple of minutes. His wife sat down behind the DAR G2 and fired 3 shots (right target), and stood up and said "Yeah, I'm done,... I want one of these Honey".

He replied with, "Well Dear, I think we're gonna have to get 2 of them, that way, I'll get to shoot once in a while too ! ! !"
He even tried to take out his wallet while still sitting behind the rifle, and I told him to forget that idea, because it ain't gonna happen ! LOL !
Soon after, the sun started getting low, so we packed it up to head back home.

I'm guessing that DAR will be pleased to hear my report. Hmmmm ? ? ?

The dovetail, cocking handle, bolt probe issues have all been addressed. The regulator is a completely different design, and I THINK the Orings and Oring grooves are up to spec now. I will try to get some more pics posted in the next couple of days.

Guys

For those of you that had or have a DAR 25 cal Ag,
what is the bbl length not including the shroud, and what is the inside depth of the mag,
looking for the total inside depth for pellet/slug length?

The .25 cal barrel is 17-11/16" long.

The magazine will accommodate JSB heavies 33.95gr (0.348" long) but not Baracuda Match (0.390") by just a few thousandths. By loosening the screw in the magazine, I was almost able to find a spot where they would index and the magazine still fit in the receiver but it would occasionally hang. A little attention with a Dremel would do the trick I'm sure but I just single load them when I want to use them. It's horrifyingly accurate with the JSB heavies so I'm using those most of the time.

Bob, I was meaning to ask why you are looking to swap the regulator?

Is yours creeping? Mine was until I smoothed the mating surfaces of the regulator's valve seat on 600 -> 1200 -> 2000 grit against a piece of glass (flat surface). The first shot's velocity is now rock solid even after sitting idle for a week.

Thank you for that info, it helped me.........

The DAR bbl, 17.6" is shorter than the MRod bbl, 18.3", with the Gaunlet bbl being the longest so far at 23.5",
IMHO, which would make a little difference in down range ballistics, if all the pellet weights were shot at the same fps.

More info added to the tally list............getting closer to the button push time. LoL

Actually, I have not had any problems with the regulator and I believe that I did polish the washers but if the regulator has been improved I may replace it. Overall I was impressed with the DAR so that is why I decided to keep it.
