I reshaped the rising comb ‘cuz the bottom is too rounded for my taste, so now it’s straight.

Did a lot of lap-sanding yesterday for hours, whew 😅

Probably this weekend, or starting tonight, I’ll even out that curve on the stock, so they’ll blend.

In sitting position, there’s already a gap between the 2 parts (comb and stock) after the sanding, but it’ll be in upright position all the time, so you won’t even see it.

I also ordered another 2260 stock from Crosman today as spare—-good thing Mama Bear still has them 👍

I’ll have it cut for a comb as well.

I was wanting the old Challenger stock, but they ain’t cheap at $377——no wonder they still have about 3 doz. in stock

Well, this is catching up on what I did yesterday.  Got the ARH package and went to work changing the spring on the k98. It's amazing how shooting it just a few times brought the spring from longer than an OEM to significantly shorter. Pretty buzzy in there too. The guides I put in (not a kit, just springs received) were a bit loose so I crimped the flattened/finished spring end just a bit to make the guide fit tight (I go for snug but ended up more on tight side).  Adding some more tar will help with the buzz likely. I did put a spacer in the piston. If tar doesn't fix the buzz I'll try takin out the spacer.  Haven't done spacing in the piston before and I do have a delrin tophat already.  At first fps was about 805, but then started throwing some much lower numbers here and there and settling around 775, which is where it was before my spring gave out.  I think my piston seal is leaking.  I put my finger over the transfer port and pulling the piston out did create a pressure vacuum, which is why I tired the spring first rather than changing the piston seal off the break.  Hopefully today I'll get a little time to size the ARH seal and see what happens.  If not, there's always tomorrow.

 I tore down an old Hy-Score 815 that's in rough shape. The piston seal disintegrated, only some dust remaining in the tube. Piston has some damage from dry firing but still looks serviceable. The breach seal is wasted and there is galling where the sliding link rides on the compression tube. The link slider pin, trigger adjuster and spring cap lock screw are missing.

 So basically it's a walk in the park and I should have it shooting any second now...

I couldn't get that Beeman 1358 that was blowing air back in my face off my mind the past few days. Last time I tried to locate and fix the problem it drove me nuts so I just put it away. I thought I remembered someone saying there was an oring inside the breech end of the barrel that the bolt probe seals against.
This morning I was determined and headed out to the shop....
Pulled the barrel and sure enough.. an oring groove with no oring in it. I spent the next 2+ hours trying to get the right oring in. It's uses the SAE #8 oring from the Harbor Freight kit.
Sausage fingers and old man eyes made it a daunting task, not to mention lower than normal patience. I would rather install a Crosman quad seal. 
But persistence paid off and I got it done.
A word to the wise.... don't dry fire this gun unless you enjoy bar stool brain teaser games.

I finally cleared space to take the 880 apart and, I hope, fix it. Removed the scope.

Continued my k98 saga. Controlled for all of the following variables, which having a 460 parts gun allowed: change of pistons, change of piston seal, change of breech seal, change of tubes, changes of springs, switching losse guides for tight guides for snug guides, For whatever reason, ended up with the same power levels and variances I started at, but with a lot more know-how and the piece of mind that I've done all I can do.  I am better at sizing ARH seals than I was before as well as attending to guide fit and considering whether tubes aren't true enough.  As long as this k98 is still a tack driver around 775 fps with baracudas and nearly silent, I'm happy. That'll be tomorrow's test when I shoot some match gate targets. Pretty happy with my day even though on paper it seems frustrating.  One day I might try longer ranges with it since I've hear sub 800 fps can be better for longer range shooting in .177 if shooting pellets.  My D48 shoots ftts at 900+, which will make for a goood side by side long range comparison of springers (in my head anyway).

Worked on new walnut grips for my Webley Premier “E” version.  Have Cherry grips (see pic), and hickory grips already.  Just fiddling in the garage.  Shot it in the garage at about 27’.  Found out that the trigger adjustment had gotten too light.  Seems like it lightens even though there is a lock screw on the trigger adjustment screw.  Trying to figure that out.  Also cogitated about getting my Beeman 700 (Diana 5G with safety) back together.  Not quite sure how and if I can get the safety to function.  Have a new piston seal coming to replace the one that got torn up from hardened oil in the compression chamber.

I topped off my big bottle and in the process I filled a leaker and found the leak. Then I cleared out some items from the gunroom that got shifted out of the hallway closet while they installed my new central air unit. And I made a decision to start getting some of my guns back up to snuff like this leaker.

Finally got around to putting dessicant packs in the safes and ammo boxes.   Cleaned guns which should have been cleaned days ago.  Looked around for CO2 cartridges so I can shoot the S&Ws, I know I put them someplace logical.    I have to better organize my stuff so I don't spent an hour looking around whenever I want to shoot something I don't shoot every day.

Firearms season has started so Camo run-n-gun season ends for me.  During the game I moved the Frontpack contents into the Blaze Orange shooting vest.
