My RS II arrived today from PA, and I’m wondering if I need to do anything before I fire it. I had PA Mount the scope and fire 20 shots already, and it’s currently at just under 200 bar. I don’t have a cleaning kit other than for powder burners. I’m itching to shoot it, but I’m in a neighborhood and it’s dark, so I’ll have to wait anyway. Will post some pics and the shot string from PA in the morning.

First thing you need to do is put some silicon grease on the fill probe O-rings. Mine lasted about three fills. And oh yeah, it's LOUD.

Turn the gun upside down, and clean the barrel.
Then turn it right side up and go enjoy shooting it.

Is there any certain type of silicone grease? I think I’ve seen some at auto parts stores. Is it also the same stuff to use on the hand pump o-rings?

Can I use Hoppes #9 on the barrel? I know that I’ve seen a thread that recommended WD-40 and Krull, but didn’t mention any powder burner cleaners, which is what I have here. Well, I have the WD-40 too, I’ve just never thought to clean a gun of any type with it.

ok so the pics weren't quite in the order I was trying for. The shot string started at 882.03 FPS on shot 1, 787.72 on shot 10, and down to 642.14 at shot 20.

I also find it interesting that the color of the rear of the stock is noticeably darker than the fore end. Is anyone elses like this?

you don't necessarily need to clean the barrel right away, I usually don't and shoot a bit before.

WD40 is a good cleaner but I prefer Ballistol.

use divers Silicon grease, Pyramyd sells Hill grease, yes same that goes on pumps

Thanks Manny, my local dive shop has some in stock, I'll grab it this afternoon.

Also I just noticed that PA didn't send the manual for the RS. I got the manual/booklet for the scope. I'll give them a call to see if they can send it, unless it's normal for these to not come with anything? I would think that legally they would have to include something to warn people of over-filling, not shooting themselves, etc.

Neither of those should be used on airguns IMO. Both can damage certain types of O-rings, so unless it's known that the o-rings in your airgun won't be damaged, best to use something else. Ballistol won't damage seals.

I got my .30 RS II last week and took it out for the 1st time a few days ago. Only had a few mags worth of JSB 44s to try it with but I can tell it's going to be a keeper. Body shot on a collared dove at 50 yds was pretty spectacular.

Wish they would have put a functional air stripper on it so the shroud would be there for more than just decoration. When I get time I'm going to make a working stripper, shroud extension and baffles to quiet it down some.

Evanix modum operandi is, powerful, short hunting guns,.....on the .30 there's only 2" of space from the end of the barrel to the end of the shroud,
the shroud is threaded to accept LDCs and there's plenty individuals out there that make quality product and you can decide how much more length you wanna ad to the gun.

If your in a pinch, and need some sil. grease fast, it is sold at the autoparts stores as dielectric grease in small tubes very cheap.

I ordered a larger jar of divers sil. grease years ago, and use the heck out of it,and it is still going strong.

As Manny can tell you, if you are going to use the very accurate 44 gro jsb's, removing one to two coils will really flatten your shot string. You ccan simply use the adjuster in the rar of the block to get back the higher speed any time.

The shrouds are all the same on Rainstorms regardless of caliber,....so yes you can loan out your .357 LDC for the .30

I agree with you. The butt stock is a little dark,and looks to want to show some nice grain. Just too dark to see it.

...on the .30 there's only 2" of space from the end of the barrel to the end of the shroud,...

All the more reason to use a stripper and make use of the dead airspace in the shroud behind the barrel support.

Manny, he has about 5" from the end of the shroud to the end of the barrel with the stock air cylinder.
