Only had a few mags worth of JSB 44s to try it with but I can tell it's going to be a keeper. Body shot on a collared dove at 50 yds was pretty spectacular.Wish they would have put a functional air stripper on it so the shroud would be there for more than just decoration. When I get time I'm going to make a working stripper, shroud extension and baffles to quiet it down some.Evanix modum operandi is, powerful, short hunting guns,.....on the .30 there's only 2" of space from the end of the barrel to the end of the shroudManny, he has about 5" from the end of the shroud to the end of the barrel with the stock air cylinder. On the .30 ?all my .30s and .357 have 2 5/8" from the end of the barrel to the end of the shroud, if you take away 3/4" thickness of the endcap you have less then 2" of empty space.

Evanix stopped making vented barrel supports because there isn't much room in the shroud to make much of a difference in the bigger calibers ( OK in .22 and .25 with the thinner barrels )Yes you can do that but overall results will not make that much of a difference, only way to really make a difference is adding length.
Wes , if the shroud dia. Is the 357 RS I can loan you my neil C. Ldc I'm down the road at lake buchanan , I would think the cal diff. Should not make much diff in sound. Outside dia on mine is .974

However, along with some added length, that 4 sq in in the rear can also be used. Not like it's costing anything to do so.
Wes, I am 20 miles west of Temple. Knife
Quote from: KnifeMaker on July 19, 2018, 10:11:33 PM Wes, I am 20 miles west of Temple. KnifeYou aren't very far from me at all, I'm probably 40 to 45 minutes or so from Temple, if that (and depending on I-35 traffic) and maybe just a few minutes further from Killeen taking 195 through Florence. Back in the early 90's I lived in the Killeen area for a few years, talk about a place that has changed a lot! There used to be only a handful of restaurants in that town, now every chain you can think of is there. After reading many of your posts over the last few months I'd really like to get together and talk guns and stuff, and tap into your wealth of knowledge on the RS platform. I'd be happy to bring a tin of your favorite pellets or a block of lead since it sounds like you are casting a lot of your own these days.
