What does everybody think is the best springer pistol ?

Hello , I am in the market for a good to great springer pistol . Was looking at the Turkish made Webley Tempest but am apprehensive due to the mixed reviews . Others I looked at were the Cometa Indian , Hatsan Supercharger , Diana lp8 or the earlier model , and so on .., just wondering what others here feel is a good gun . Obviously the Beeman P1 is a dream , but I do not know about such price range . Also it may be hard to come by some of these guns . Any suggestions ? I am looking at a gun that will at least reach 450 fps , would love a .22 but if a great gun will do for a .177 .

I really like my Hatsan .177 supercharger. It's a little on the heavy side. I do like the anti recoil absorber and the barrel extension to help with the cocking.

Never shot a spring pristol that I liked.  I have a Benjamin Nitro pistol in .177, and it's okay accurate, but what a kick for a springer pistol.  Hard to be consistent.  Not impossible, just hard.    Much much happier with my PRod and I have an MRod air CO2 target pistol that is very accurate.

What about the Beeman P1/HW45? Ain't cheap but a heck of a springer pistol.

The P-1 isn't a springer, it's a single pump pneumatic.  The P-17 is the same thing and for $40 it can't be beat.  you might get 400fps out of it.

As far as springer pistols go I have a Browning Buckmark.  Shooting it is as addictive as eating pistachios, nothing to brag about as far as the power and accuracy

I just received a P17 gratis from a member here, JoeShmoe (thanks again, Joe) and it's really an amazing gun considering the retail cost.

With that mistake corrected i just looked up a P3. Why on earth would anyone spend $230 for a P3?  It looks exactly like a P17

I picked up a P-17 at a pawn shop a few weeks ago. It is powerful for a cheap air pistol and seems to be accurate too. Not as accurate as a 717, At least more accurate than I can shoot and a lot more power.

Agreed.  The P1/hw45 wins by a mile in the "best springer pistol" category.  Expensive, but very well designed and great for all day plinking.

+1 If you can shoot a heavy springer pistol accurately, you can shoot anything!

Rws 5G is an excellent pistol, the RWS LP8 replaced it. Both accurate and powerful.
It is going to take some technique and time to shoot any spring pistol well.
I mentioned the 5G for the quality and sometimes can be purchased for $100 or so used. Dave

Anyone tried the Cometa Indian ? Is it worth its Webley Tempest look ? I like the regular recoil principle (I mean a spring expanding forth to back).

The Cometa Indian is a nice pistol, easy to cock. Down side is the sights are adjustable for windage only. Repair can be a problem too. Dave
