HW45 by a long shot . Save your money until you can afford one . Get a P17 until you can. They do come up for sale every once in a while and as long as it hasen’t Been butchered up or left outside to rust should be good . Not too many people buy a 400$ pistol to abuse them .

I agree. My black star is my favorite air pistol. I prefer it over my P1 even though for the most part it’s just a Beeman rebrand.

I had a Supercharger- bought used off another member here. It was good for what it was, but I also own a SPA PCP pistol and some Crosman Lego, so the Supercharger was given a new home where it makes holes in pest pigeons.

If you're looking for a springer pistol, the HW-45/P-1 is top dawg unless you come across an FWB 65 MK2- nothing can hang with that in the accuracy department, and I'll take accuracy over power anyday.

If you can find one, a Baikal MP53M is a very accurate springer pistol, not pellet picky. Mine isn't anyway.

My old Gamo Falcon, under lever, .177 is very accurate and has good power. It makes at least as much penatrive power as my Benj Trail NP. I have had it since the 80's never been tore down and never gave me any problems. They are hard to find but a good pistola.

If the Tempest is like the old Webley Hurricane, it has a wicked recoil.
The Hurricane is a plinker, but with that recoil, it is not easy to shoot accurately.

My best spring pistols are 10m match pistols.
The FWB-65 is a classic. Still looking for one.

I like the HW70 air pistol. Had one just for testing and it shot very smoothly, could see the flight of the pellets. I also have a FWB65, and it shoots well too, but mines is due for an overhaul and that looks to be a difficult job.

That would be my vote as well, the rest is simply too powerfull to get good accuracy.

Else, getting a good used UK Tempest would be my next option.

Btw... I have been in your boat as well and finally went for a CO2 operated pistol...

FWIW, there's a lot of value in the SPA CP2 pistol/carbine CO2 'kit gun'. Available for $150.00 delivered and hopefully will soon be offered by a vendor that's well known here (JSAR). Nothing wrong w/the CP-1M for $80 for that matter...

I believe Bill (Avator) and a few others (Chickie I'm pointing at you) have the CP-1M. I will be getting one from Krale within the next couple months. While I'd LOVE to have a 65 or the 65 MK2, realistically I don't see myself finding one. And given how many good and accurate CO2 airguns are available, they make great choices and are far easier to shoot accurately in most instances. But the SPA PCP pistol is still my preferred pistol. Nothing else I own can hang with it in accuracy and non-pickiness.

I've shot both the Webley (UK) Tempest and Hurricane, but I was an idiot and never bought one. At this point, if I was getting another affordable springer pistol, there's no doubt I'd opt for the Cometa Indian from Aceros in Spain. That will likely be my "Happy Birthday to myself" present from me this year.

If you want to reliably hit what your shooting at and power is not a concern go with one of the old match FWB 65's or Diana 6m's.
Shooting a recoilless springer is quite an experience.

I fully agree with scrape, anti-squirrel and lefeyela’s recommendation for the FWB 65. Anything these old guns may lack in power is more than compensated for by their amazing accuracy and build quality. Another plus for these guns is their continued manufacturer support. Feinwerkbau continues to keep vintage parts in stock and they are easily obtained through their website.
