Secret Sauce is 30W AW (Anti wear) hydraulic oil according to the web site.

At $10 for 6 oz it's a better deal than most offerings.

Lube and clean your gun regularly and it doesn't matter much what oil you use.
Cheap 30W oil will work fine.

I use this on all the pump pivot points.
Available in straight 30-60W at the local parts store for $8 a quart.
I like the 50W as it stays where you put it much better than 30W.

I have used 30W ND oil in all my vintage guns, not doubt it works well. And yes it’s it’s cheap and you’ll probably never use a quart up. Will still use it on my vintage leather seal guns. But I think the Mac-1 sauce is better for my pumper. I used it on the Crosman 108 and it seemed smoother tighter? And the large size bottle distributes drops of oil with little issue, and I’ll probably never use all that either.

I can appreciate the above warning but I found that once the Sause found its way down into the sear it actually helped to smooth out a less than optimal trigger pull. So this stuff can save you some honing?

I'm another believer in the special sauce.

Having known Tim for more than thirty years, I trust his judgement when it comes to what lube to use. (Btw - Bel Ray fork oil is definitely involved. I've rebuilt more than a few sets of forks and the smell of that stuff is distinctive.)

Gotta hand it to ol' Tim, just placing “Secrete” to the Sauce sure was a great marketing tool. All that was needed after that was a few users saying it was the best thing since swish cheese… Ka-ching!

I've heard Pellgunoil called everything from ATF to hydraulic oil dyed red to lord-knows-what. Turn out it's Monolec® GFS single grade 30w Engine Oil. A 1/4 oz. of it costs about 5 cents if bought directly. As far as detergent versus non-detergent goes, LE Monolec is a detergent motor oil.

Tune in a Tube is Almagard® Vari-Purpose #2 grease. It is a lithium complex formulation, red in color. It’s distributed by LEI (Lubrication Engineers, Inc.). This is the same company who supplies Crosman Pellgunoil.

Dear All :
I bought a Fishing Worm Blower today at Walmart for about $2. I reversed the needle in it and filled it with some Secret Sauce. Now I have a Needle Applicator for the Secret Sauce. No Shipping paid and cheaper than Amazon. It works Great too. It will apply a small precision amount of lubrication to a precise point on my 1979 Silver Streak with out over lubricating. It was an easy and inexpensive way to obtain a good precision needle applicator. My Best Wishes to All - Tom

I would assume it is solvent free, I t may have detergents ? Just don't get secret sauce confused with special sauce from the big mac $:-\$

A simple test to detect detergents...two drops of secrete sauce in water. This effect would not occur with detergent based products.
