if you did nothing wrong,and followed the instructions to the letter,and this happened,then what happens if,say i a,m with you and you were pumping up as you were and that happened it exploded and it not only hit your ankle but injured me or someone else as well?your liable ,for the others injury's,so you should think carefully about the situation that happened and for sure someone at sun ,and crosman have followed your post,strange that if it was under warranty why did you not just send it back for a new one,or let them fix the old one, that's one way that sun or crosman can control there quality , ,and one other point,why has no one else had this problem?others have said there pump look the same as yours,yet no problems,only different factor is,you just rebuilt your,'so i see why there,s no law suit,and i,m so glad you can walk a way lesson learned  .thanks for the heads up to what happened,so others can hopefully avoid the accident that happened to you,good luck to you,and let us know how your new pump turns out.

Before I'd get all excited about bringing in any lawyers, - how many other pumps have been sold & used WITHOUT having this problem??? - My guess is, a LOT. - I have a Sun pump that came with my Disco, (still have it) and it doesn't look like the one pictured. This pump "may have been" modified before this incident.

Awesome! And I like your attitude about litigation, WAY too many trivial lawsuits out there mostly making bucks for the lawyer... now if it was serious personal or property damage, then the courts might be needed.

absolutely correct,there is no law suit here,and i don,t care for lawyers either,and most of the law suits are to make lawyers money,but for sure i wonder why no one else has had a similar incident ,and what happen,no liquid doe.s not compress ,not in a engine not in a pump,there telling people to coat there o-ring,s with motor oil,non detergent] but motor oil has acidity,that eat metal, that's why synthetic oil is so good for your engine,and has to be changed less often,i'm sorry guys,this just don't sit well with me,something is missing,i would love to find out what sun, determines was the culprit .   was it the oil.witch under high pressure/heat can and will explode,but so little was used [only to lightly coat the o-ring,right,yet the explosion was at the aluminium base and or hose,weakest point the hose,2800psi,guy your lucky you still got a leg/ankle. would really think seriously about going to church and thanking someone,

It's all about what you are happy with, if a new hose and a box of bandaids works for you and they say okay then all is good, but lets say you would like a new pump and it needs to be pressure tested (hose and all parts) for working order and that would make you happy and they say NO, sometimes all you have do is say you are thinking of looking into getting legal help and that might just do the trick. Also sharp metal in your feet and leg is seriously personal and your pump blown up is property damage and what happens down the road when you get some weird infection from this and have see a doctor, stranger things have happened in life.
It's not about taking advantage of someone but all about whats fair, I have never sued anyone and hope I never do.

I agree with you about the suing thing.  If they get sued, they'll increase the price of everything to cover their potential liability. 
Too bad, though, they didn't have a handle on the danger of using hydrocarbon based lubricants.  As you found out (and they should have known), it doesn't take much HC material in a small place, combined with HPA, to make quite a bang.  It is good that they stepped up.

Money talks and sometimes suing is what it takes to make a company own up to negligence.  It's your ankle this time but might be someone elses eye on the next boom.

Just can't believe they're promoting using motor oil.  Seems nuts.  Really glad you weren't hurt more seriously!
