Spotted these two in the backyard.   Low quality pics as the shots were taken through a window screen at dusk.  They flew about 40 feet from the trellis to the barn roof and back several times over about 15 minutes.   Their flying and their landings looked pretty clumsy to me. They still had fluffy-downy feathers, perhaps they were siblings who just left the nest.  They were still hanging around the yard on the next day.   We hear their relatives most summer nights.   It's always nice to see interesting creatures around the homestead.

I used to have a mating couple hooting together over the creek. Wish I still had them around so I wouldn't be finding so many dead little rats in my pool. Maybe the red hawks chased the owls away.

They were itty bitty flowers and they were in bloom all through the weeds and grasses.  I actually just looked them up…

It really is Gil.  Easy hike too.  The trail just meanders through the woods and not much elevation to deal with.  It’s a ways out from civilization

Betty Lou took a video of the deer between taking pictures. The video shows how relaxed the deer is as it moved around. The picture I posted shows that the deer knew Betty Lou was there. He looked right at her several times.
A squirrel finally found one of the feeders we put wild bird seed in and he's began to raid it daily. I'm need to explain to him that he is not welcome.   
We have 2 pairs of Cardinals. The 2 males are very aggressive towards each other.

 We had a male Cedar Waxwing that picked a fight with his reflection in the window by a tree, he did this for a few years, I recently cut down the tree, seems to have solved his problem

Rambo just got up and ate then Betty Lou let him out. He told that squirrel, on no uncertain terms, that he needs to vacate the bird feeder. The squirrel jumped to a nearby tree and up a few branches. He stopped there where he and Rambo had a stare down before moving on.

On a morning bicycle ride recently, I spotted seven deer while riding past a field of cotton.  [There is one more off-camera to the right.]  I often see deer when bicycle riding, and have to be careful that they don't run into me when they decide to cross the road.
