Tune it to the low 800’s and see if the accuracy improves. I stuck a reg in mine avg 802 FPS 30 shots

Hey Marc, my apologies, I didn't realize that the ldc was non removable. Jason/Nervous Trigger is the expert on re-crowning if you need help with another gun. He has a thread on it in his signature.

Paul i just totaled the last 18 5 shot groups at 35 yards with JSB 18.13 pellets.
The average is .357,smallest group .140,largest .515.
The CPHP average .565 BUT and thats a big but, they need to be sorted for head diameter,they vary widely so you get a ton of fliers.
Mine shoots the .218 diameter best.
Anyway,its pretty hard to consistently shoot tiny groups,you need a very sturdy rest and even though the gun seems to not recoil it still moves a tiny bit.
And that tiny bit of movement has to be absolutely the same every time,plus it has to be totally still outside while shooting to truly evaluate a rifle.
I do a lot of benchrest shooting and every time i pick up a different gun i have to become accustomed with it again to do my best.
It took a lot of pellets to really be able to truly evaluate the accuracy of the Urban with different pellets.
I'm sure you know all this and your Gauntlet groups prove it,just felt like re-iterating that it takes lots of practice to consistently shoot tiny groups.
I hope you get the gun exchanged and get a great shooting rifle,i just love mine,love making those one hole groups with it.

You can also get a suppressor adapter that fits the splines of the Urban once you remove the plastic one.
Its listed under Gamo Phox,its the same as the Urban but for different markets.I dont mind the factory one.

James. Thank you for your comments!  I do notice a lot more side to side spread with the Urban, and I'm shooting from a very light tripod, so not the most sturdy of rests!  I'm guessing the weight difference between the Urban and Gauntlet play a role as well. 

I'm still going to pursue an exchange since the gauge is not acting very reliable.  Hopefully the replacement will be a better shooting rife, because I really want to like it!

I put the two targets together in one picture below.  Both were shot on the same day one right after the other, same distance, same pellets, same conditions, and same shooting position.  Rested the Gauntlet does feel steadier than the Urban.  Even though I adjusted the trigger on the Urban, I can't seem to shorten the pull as much as I'd like, so it's still 3X anger then the Gauntlet.  I have the Gauntlet where I want it, and it feels amazing, light, crisp and short!  The one flyer on the JSB target was me, not the rifle, squeezed off the round too quickly...

Even though the Gauntlet is quite a bit heavier than the Urban, I still have to pick it as the better rifle.  IMO, as they currently sit, it has a better trigger, better accuracy, way more shot count, and seems to be way less fussy with pellets.  All 4 targets below were shot with the crosshairs square on the bulls eye.  You can see the Gauntlet did not vary as much as the Urban with a different type and weight of pellet.

Oh ,believe me i can see why you prefer the Gauntlet.Only thing that's stopping me from buying one is the size of it,it seems huge compared to the Urban.
I just got the 2.5mm screws that i ordered since no place around here had anything smaller than 3mm and installed one in the trigger.
Even though the pull was very lite as you know and it didn't stop me from shooting it well off the bench,offhand it was hard to move it through that long arc.
That longer screw did eliminate most of the trigger travel,so it's acceptable to me now.
My R9 on the other hand has a great trigger and if you hold the rifle they way it wants to be held it shoots a lot better than i can.
Other than a couple of target air pistols,those are the only air rifles i now own.
I have gone through quite a few both PCP and springers over the years,i got started with a Diana 27 back in the early 70s when i was growing up overseas.
 I really hope you can get another Urban that's right just because the one i lucked on shoots so dang good,even with an imperfect trigger i think you would be very pleased.

Did you get your "dime @ 50 yds" before or after adding the regulator? What regulator did you add?

I compared the Discovery vs. the Urban at 25 yds with GTO pellets. My Discovery is hardly a primo rifle. Group size (10 shots):

0.6" Discovery 851 fps average
1.4" Urban @ ~790 fps

If my Discovery can out shoot the Urban like this, the Urban needs to go back.

Superdomes shot like that with mine but at 35 yards.
 Even crappy pellets should be grouping under an inch at 25,yup something's not right.

Huma Reg benched no wind. No reg with just hs adjustments in the 800’s should shoot half in groups which is a keeper in my book. If you’re like me I always strive to get the gun to shoot tighter groups but by all means 1/2 ok 3/4 groups at 50 for a sub $240 gun is a keeper 😉

Marc what pellets do you have? You should see my collection of 177 22 25 pellets. When I get a new gun I start with the cheap pellets working my way up to the more expensive pellets  out to 30 then 50. I keep notes on the pellets which one shoots the best then it’s a shoot off for the best groups

Marc you need to buy more different pellets jsb 14.35 15.89 air arms 13.43 16.0 18.0 h&n field target trophy 14.66 in the head size 5.53 5.54 5.55 don’t buy wad cutters   They are for  punching papers 25 yards and less and I believe at lower FPS. Wait and get your replacement and use your current pellets the groups should tighten up if you have a good one. I have a few other jsb I did not mention  in 22 18.1 13.43.  I also have. Rws  Crosman and Beeman. If my guns do not group1/2 or less with any of these pellets at 50 the gun goes back but that’s me. Granted some of my cheap springers have to shoot @ 30 1/2 or better or they go back😉 I don’t expect them to shoot out to 50 1/2 or better.  in my 15 yrd basement my low power springers have better shoot 1/2 or less or it goes back😉

The replacement Urban arrived today.  So far, it's showing promise.  The gauge works, that's a big plus!  It has the same magazine feed issue the last one had, but I now know how to fix that, so hopefully it will be easy to resolve.  It's also showing promise with accuracy.  I just grabbed a tin of some lousy Gamo Master Point pellets and ran 3 magazine through it before it got dark.  This was mainly to ensure it worked and the gauge was working, but was able to dial in the scope on a 20 yard target.  Not the best groups, but considering the pellets and the fact I was sitting on the ground using my knee as a rest, they were tighter than the groups I had on the last one shooting from the bench with a rest! 

Weather permitting, I hope to get out tomorrow with some better pellets and get it sighted in at 35 yards.  I'm hoping this one's a keeper...

What pellets do you have on hand?

Some JSB Exact Jumbo's, H&N Sniper Magnums, H&N Hunter Extremes, CPHP's and a few others.  But some, like the H&N Silver Points and Gamo Master Points are pretty much garbage.  I mainly use them to clean the packing grease from the barrels!
