Problem with an extended probe, is that it is almost impossible to load a full size pellet. Especially in the dark when pasting.Top Compound the issue, the extended probe will be over the port when firing. Grrrrr!!! But the loading issues, with the tiny loading port is the biggest issue. The bolt does not retract as far as a Disco bolt. PITA!!!The BNM Breech cured that problem! Knife

The cocking force with the OEM spring is quite high. Get a 0.042"x 1.5" heavy P-rod spring from Hill Airguns. It lowers the cocking force, increases shot count and still keeps the velocity up over 900 fps.

I know... old thread. But I am about to revisit my Maxi and wanted to bump this back up instead of starting a new thread and re-hashing or worse yet, loosing some of this fine info.Put together a little shopping list from Magnum Airpower and would like some input before spending the money, here is what I have so far....CUSTOM BRASS RIFLE TRIGGER - $35.00MAGNUM RIFLE POWER ADJUSTER, COMPACT - $30MAXIMUS BARREL BAND - $8.00MAGNUM HAMMER SPRING .045 - $5.30MAGNUM HAMMER SPRING .042 - $5.30Reason for the barrel band is I have read of improvements by adding a second one and tuning the harmonics. The two different hammer springs are to try and tune for use with the power adjuster, all in an attempt to lower the cocking effort yet improve the shot string.Quote The cocking force with the OEM spring is quite high. No wonder they had have a reputation for bolt handle failures. I do NOT pump it past the 2000 psi factory spec, so would the .045 be even worth trying? Currently mine is shooting well (accurate) from 1750 down to about 1300 psi. When I am bench shooting, it's teathered to a Paintball bottle with a ExpertHPA reg set at 1600. Here is my best 35 yard group with that set-up shooting JSB 18g.
