A BIG Congrats! to both Carl and Doug!!!

I am still recovering from a serious Back Surgery. Dr's won't' let me lift the weight of the Talon/Dor yet.

I am so chomping at the bit to get the Lowly .257 out of mothballs and stretch her out!

I do need to get with Doug though, as the valve stem is starting to show wear. Poor thing has had a few thousand rounds shot with it. Well, a "Not so Few Rounds"

No trigger work. What was in frame when I bought rifle.............It is better than the condors I had........Those I installed SUPER SEAR and lightened them considerably.......Tex is not bad.........Carl

Yes it would penetrate in large game.......But is built for bench work to test how good  the AirForce Platform CAN BE!

Although it is a total custom build, the trigger is stock and what came with the gun. It isn't all that bad. I left it stock as maybe 2.5-3 lbs pull. I have a digital PULL gauge but it was good enough for me and never checked it......

Very TRUE but I quit killing animals over 40 yrs ago.......It is just a  project I wanted to do, and Doug Noble built the horsepower and I replaced most of what was AIRFORCE, except frame, trigger, and hammer/spring housing TUBE.

I have also shot it at about DOUBLE the distance of any other .45 TEXAN and will be video in fall or so.....It is a great  airgun now.......

Let me join the voices chorusing Doug Noble.  I am relatively new to air gunning; about a year and a half now - powder burners all my life, air guns, 1 1/2 years.  The crew I hang out with in Cali know this man well as he is a WIZ with air guns.  When you have a problem you don't understand or can't fix, this man is on the short list of guys to call, you knowaddamean?

My personal story involves an Air Force Talon in .25.  Unhappy with the power and speed output of this gun, I contacted Air Force who has a valve and hammer spring kit you can install.  I got the kit, opened it, looked at my rifle, looked at the kit again, re looked at the rifle and realized I'm a 6 year old trying to tune a 1967 Jaguar 12 cylinder - I am LOST.  Since Doug lives in the same town as I do and we've hooked up a few times; I asked if he could possibly help me and help me he did.  Installed, it was shooting a 33.95 grain .25 at over 1020 FPS - Doug did a little of this, added an o ring, a little of that and VIOLA, I have an Air Force Talon in .25 shooting a 33.95 grain JSB Heavy averaging anywhere from 900 to 910 FPS at around 60 FPE.  Controlling the speed has kept this gun way accurate and helped with a successful pesting adventure this past weekend.  I can't thank Doug enough for what he's done for me.  I love this Talon and now that it's shooting so well, I REALLY love this Talon.

On a side note, Doug has his own professionally crafted air rifles he let me try out and I was hitting targets at, no joke, 200 yards (eggs and cans) and 400 yards, 10" by 10" cylinders.

That's right, my friends, a measured 400 yards.  Yeah, I know what you're thinking and I bout fell out of the chair when I hit at 400.  Couldn't believe it hit and it hit that hard at that distance. 

Anyway, if it can be done on an air gun, Doug can do it.

The inline valve is so much superior on flowdynamics over the conventional valve.
And more important the gun is accurate!


Doug has the .457 fpe crown now  way to go!

As Doug mentioned, Not so easy getting there..........800 fpe with the valve is pretty easy.....900 fpe and beyond was NOT SO EASY but does it.

Yes Doug has built a valve that all I have read about .45 airguns, nothing comes close ........It is the most powerful .45 airgun out there. ON HPA.  The best part though is big heavy bullets at 3500 psi and making 750 fpe and I shoot this way off bench  all the time....... I  don't even know what light bullets will do as never wasted time or air just to see???  On video with a 383 gr hitting 1000 fps and shot before it was 997 fps.....I think the day of video with camera off and about +4000 psi I did put a 280 gr in and it was over 1100 fps but don't remember.......

The valve TOP HAT openings  and valve body are NOT OPTIMUM to achieve barrel diam flow, not even close but it does work.....Later this year Doug said he will bring Helium as I have the booster and give it a go.......Will quiet some people down, MAYBE? If Helium CAN achieve 50% more fpe the Texan WILL be close to 1350 fpe with a .45 caliber and around a 455 gr slug.  That will be what is possible with it....... Not 20mm stuff but no one has come close with .45 that I have ever read about with a rifle i can pick up and carry to the bench

It is the most powerful .45 out there if that matters to some, but we do it for the fun of doing stuff.
The 20mm has done it's main purpose already and shown what can be had with air. There is more there but now time is the rarest commodity I have.

It will be interesting see what extreme breaking power you will get on helium, pun intended 
You and Doug have built the most extremely powerful and accurate .45 out there!

Oh yeah, I can pickup the Fury just fine and carry it to the bench.

Well, I didn't want to comment on the gun because wanted to see if anyone else spots the fact that you don't have the LW barrel anymore. Looks like the new custom barrel is a winner!

The 4500psi tank is your trademark allready, so no need to comment on that.
Its a precision instrument like all of your guns, made to do one thing very good!

Edit: forgot to mention that it tracks beautifully. Straight back recoil, just perfect.

Thanks.........Yes it tracks very  well. Wasn't and accident either.........That DUPLIN Bi Pod I had for my Competition F-TR rifle with SKIS on feet that DON'T DIG TO BENCH, working off a TIGHT WOVEN NYLON DOOR MAT, plus heavy BBL and added weight on front of frame is all that it needed  Didn't do that stock as at 500 fpe energy jumped all over, and was terrible......900 fpe and slides back level and controlled.........

DOn't know about MAGIC, but has worked hard developing valves, and ideas and seeing them come to reality..........Yes no one  builds a better valve for AirForce than DOUG......I have 3 .257's and 3 texan valves all worked on or built by him..

Yes Marko, boundries have been expanded.............Don't know how much longer AIR will hold any interest for me..? LOCAL range has banned me from charging tanks with my booster on site.....For now they will let me bring my 2 CF tanks already filled but NO CHARGING ON SITE.......They cite the danger of tanks failing and for now I can still shoot. NRA is adapting rules for HPA .......We  have 3 commercial places in town that fill. 2 dive shops and a paintball store and field to shoot paintball and fill on site to the players.  Insurance will not cover places that fill tanks they said???  With pellet guns now charging to 4500 psi, won't be long and they will ban?  Range manager USED TO WORK AT FIRE DEPT. and filled tanks and said he was seen tanks fail charging, including CF and the fibers shred like muscle fibers, and all were within CERTIFICATION PERIOD,  and they charged  in a cage.......Talked to 2 shops this morning.. One owner said a NEW TANK can fail even certified, although RARE, it has happened.  Another said he has had tanks fail, usually a crack in neck opens  up. 

So not a lot more I want to do with air anyway..........Have video of shooting TEXAN at 1070 yds, not posted. Maybe next week try 2 liter Soda's at a HALF MILE, which is 190 yds closer than I have already shot it at 3 different times.......I have shot the 200 yd EBR TARGET, pics but no video, and with the 4" clays at 600 yds, (video posted), really not much to interest me. Maybe chrono shots with max psi on HELIUM.....Then probably sell all my stuff and go back to powder???  Or just pellets??? I have  a RAW in .22 for 3 yrs now and just target shoot at 100 yds as it is an accurate pellet shooter?

Heck by that time I may not be above ground anyway

I'm smelling BS on their stories, all tank failures should be reported and inspected! Have seen couple of DOT failure reports on luxfer alu tanks but not a single one on fiber. Firefighters tanks go very difficult lifespan, fire, heat, chemicals and what not. But new tanks are designed to leak if there is a failure, not to explode.
I have seen fiber tanks shot when full and all there happened is a bullet hole that leaked the tank empty ( like jet engine) but no explosion.
If there was exploding tanks we would have heard about it.


They are just jealous of your booster.

That DESERT looking long range I shoot at, I CAN boost there but I only go there for longer range stuff as it is 140 mi round trip and horribly dusty road in and  around there too.Standard OIL owns land and drive through OIL FIELDS and in rear a cattle company owns. Range has a lease is all..............LOCAL range of 200 yd and 20 min from house is  where they stopped  me boosting tanks........ALL where looks like desert before getting there is like central TEXAS,  flat, and is BIG AG FARMING,  then dried hills are ALL PRIVATE LAND.....No BLM land near where I live......

Thanks Mike.  Good luck with the back recovery.........Serious stuff.  Been dealing with back injuries and the results of that for 30  years.  Pain  daily......Had friends  who had the surgery and seem better until the SCAR TISSUE pinches nerves and such and then more surgeries to remove that.....Hope yours is one of the success stories?  Wish  you the best on your healing process.........Carl
