HW80 .177 at 30 yards since this am.

Bill the last time that I shot a golf ball was with my Mini 14, it went clean through and didn't return . . . . lol.  The guys that were watching said no way you'll hit that golf ball at 100 yards but I proved them wrong.

My Mini14 was BRUTAL on bowling pins at 100+ yards

One for you to consider looking into would be the FWB300S (Feinwerkbau).  Right around 600 fps +/- and laser accurate spring gun that has a sliding sled action.  They are side lever cocking.  They are a good 10m offhand shooter or great off of a bench. 

Brett, my 40 year old FWB300s is one of the, if not THE most accurate guns I own out to 20 yards.

Mine is too Scott.  It will shoot right around 1” groups at 50 yards in calm conditions and using AA 7.87 gr pellets.  I’ve showed this one off before but I’ll do it again (proud dad stuff going on).

Nate with FWB300S at 50 yards.  Sean with RS78 at 25yds?  And my latest airgun with moderator mounted.  That is the FX Wildcat .177 caliber.  I love this bullpup!!!

Got out my Hammerli 850 today and shot 10 different pellets to determine better and best ammo types. It's very flexible with pellets but did get a little fussy, especially with two that did very well yesterday--CPHP 7.9 and Daisy 7.5 WCs.

I'm having a lot of fun with the gun but feel guilty for leaving a cartridge in it for so long. The 88 gram cart. lasts a long time thus far.

Wow Brett your boys can shoot! I love seeing how your family enjoys shooting together. I just had a session with the 17 cal, 22 cal marauders and 22 cal Fortitude. My 17 is the most accurate out of these 3 guns. Also has the most moolah invested in it too, lol. Funny how that works. The Fortitude is just getting broken in so its a little erratic but pretty good so far. My wife actually is better with that rifle than I am. And the 22 marauder is all stock and a work in progress. Not even sure I've found it's favorite pellet yet.

We are out there shooting quite often.  When the older kids were young, I always had this guilt leaving them and my wife behind at home while I went out and played with the big boys.  Shooting was one of those activities that I enjoyed doing but it took so much time away from home.  That’s how I got started into airguns, by buying a pellet gun and shooting at home.  I discovered the world of airguns on the internet and that’s when things opened up for me. 

It used to be something I just did myself in the yard sort of to escape but still be there.  As the kids got old enough, I started them into shooting with me.  I would set the gun up and try to aim it while they would pull the trigger.  We missed a lot but over time they learned to handle the guns, sight and shoot with less and less help from me.  Now I’m pretty much the guy that gets them the stuff they need to shoot and the pump guy when shooting the PCPs!  Ha ha!  Sean, the youngest still needs some assistance with cocking some of the guns but that RS78 pcp gun he shoots has been mastered by him!  It’s a very easy gun to operate.  They have all had a lot of practice and most of the guns are dialed in good so it helps them to build their confidence and fun when they can hit what they are aiming for.  Christopher (12) and myself were chasing a plastic golf ball out in the yard out to 60-65 yards with our HW springers.  It was a great time for him to figure out holdover as the distances stretched out as the ball kept getting hit. We started at maybe 20 yards and kept whacking the ball farther and farther out.  We had such a good time!

Today/morning i got a squirrel in the dome, huge freak out to me since it was flopping like a fish for a good while "fountaining" everywhere.... ive hada few fish and few fountains but not in the same moment....  2240 with green laser and H&N hornets, in the left eye and out the back spine, looking for the exit pellet/tip currently.



Looked at the home cameras to see what it caught... with the whole moment, the cameras only caught me walking away with it bagged up....  meanwhile it showed activity at 1AM (i went inside/to bed at 12:30) of a racoon walking through the yard nonchalantly to the pond and attempting to catch fish.


Tonight the cage is set along with catfood. Thermal was just reset a few hours ago for the prod and its new POI at the distance (after TP mod and Moderator have been installed).


Im off tomorow and have a hard time sleeping with the medication causing insomnia and having to take it at midnight. Im ready for everything to happen tonight!!!

Took the Daisy 415 "Pickled" Pistol out in the neighborhood (not illegal) and took out a bunch of Cicadas for family fishing outing tomorrow.  It is pretty accurate but semi-auto really helps a lot.  Made sure to wear eye protection as we were shooting at tree limbs.

I understand.   I am sure it can happen and at close range could be very dangerous.   I am shooting them at 25 yards or farther.   So far, I have never had a pellet "bounce back" in my direction.   However, I can't say for sure where they might go laterally/vertically/horizontally if I don't hit dead center... so there is that.

HW80 .177 0540 Hours, still dark but with the Burris scope saw the target at 30 yards and hit it first shot! Still too dark to see without a scope!

I haven't got the new Freedom .22 set up and zeroed yet, so I just thought I would try the .177 at 55 yards for giggles since I have been missing so much lately with it at 25 yards.

Hit the golf ball on the first shot at 55 yards.

Until/unless I get a pest target, I may not shoot again today.   I know how to quit when I am ahead!  (grin)

It IS a lot easier to hit stuff when I remember to remove the screen from the window first!

I got the shakes pretty bad this morning but just HAD to SHOOT!
Put the bags out and grabbed the HW98. Ya see I got a new scope and thought I would shoot it one last time in this set-up before swapping optics around.
 
 First 5 shots all touching, covered by a dime, at 30 yards.

On second thought.... Maybe I'll leave it as is and get a new gun for this 6-24 x 44 scope

Sadly, it is not just a little bit true!   

You KNOW there is a reason when someone buys 100' of window screen!  (chuckle)


So far it looks good!  No obvious problems so far, but it IS MUCH louder than my .177 Freedom.   Even if I did not have the DIY LDC on the end of the .177, I am pretty sure that the .22 is a lot louder.   I am trying to decide on how to make the LDC for the .22 as it NEEDS more help in the noise department than the .177 did.

Drinkin' coffee under our pergola when it was juuuuuust light enuf to see this A.M.. D34 .177 defending my green beans @38 yards (I had it already ranged!) that Bugs Bunny thinks are his, not mine. Happened to catch a little movement... that was it's last mistake. Satisfying to hit that first cold shot w/springer when I'm still scratchin' and yawnin'

Well, I just could not stand it.   Yeah I hit the golf ball at 55 yards on the first try, but it kept nagging at me that it was just luck...
 
So,  I opened the window and set up the box I use for a rest and tried it again.  Same golf ball.  Missed low, missed low, missed low, missed low... missed high... AHA!   Nope, missed low again.  Pumped back up to ~3000psi and shot 2 more times... yep, both low.

Then I realized I had set the power selector back to low.  (face palm!)

Reset to high power and I was bouncing that golf ball around at 55 yards!   WOW!   That DOES feel good!
