So.....what did you shoot today?

It's been at least a year since I shot the " American boy " 2300kt rifle.
I was having some major accuracy issues that turned out to be a loose fitting front sight, and I just wasn't sure what I'd replace that plastic front sight with.

This daisy 953 front sight unit isn't ideal because it's so tall, but with this I can do 1/4" groups sitting at 10-12yds which I'm happy with.
I may see if one of the front sights maverick custom offers will fit on this daisy barrel weight.

Oh, no, that rear sight was going back and forth between two rifles.
 I recently got reacquainted with how the 853C does with the peep,(I've had a scope on it for a while).
Now the 853C is set up as it should be, and I have another peep back on my 499B.
 Two most accurate shooters I have.

Oh, no, that rear sight was going back and forth between two rifles.
 I recently got reacquainted with how the 853C does with the peep,(I've had a scope on it for a while).
Now the 853C is set up as it should be, and I have another peep back on my 499B.
 Two most accurate shooters I have.

Oh okay.
I bought a couple of the 5899 sights that I had swapped around to various guns myself.
One found a permanent home on my 880, the other gets swapped, and then the one that came with my 499 has stayed on it since day 1.

Running my .30 Vulcan 3, after Derrick set my regulators..  65 gr. Accurate mold dropping at .306.. 940's for average.. Can't wait for dry weather..

No I had to modify the front sight.
I cut the blade off, dremel in a slot for a new taller strip of plastic, then build up and shape JB weld putty.

I shot 17gr Ruger Superpoints though both my Crosman 2200 and the 362 at spinners thirty yards away.  It was a little windy and I was struggling with the 2200 which only flings the heavy pellets at about 570 fps with ten pumps in the gun.  The 362 pushes them to 630 fps with the same number of pumps.  Although I was slathered with bug dope and wearing my full mesh bug suit the yellow flies finally drove me indoors by biting my hands (their favorite target).

Shot some .3015 NOE casts through the .303 Challenger. Better groups but still not MOS.
Considering leaving this cavity alone and powder coating and sizing.  Might do one more gentle lapping....
Tested the 217RF21.6 "shallow skirt" slelletts through the Notos.  As expected they didn't group well, probably too rear heavy....
Danced some cans with the 19.4 normal skirt casts

I did some more shooting with the " American boy " today, getting it really sighted in and seeing just how accurate it is.

On 4 pumps sitting at 10yds this is 6 of the 7.9 CPHP's plus 1 flyer.

On 6 pumps I can hit the small paddle on my Crosman rack every time at 25yds without adjusting the sights or POA.

It just looks like a tiny orange dot at that distance but since the insert on this front sight is a globe I have no problem seeing and hitting it.
I probably should have repainted it first, but all the shots I took with this gun are those touching in the cente.
 I finished off the cartridge in my 2240 earlier, those are the larger scattered hits.

Plinked with the P3 at 33’, half standing offhand and half sitting on ground with bent knee under the support arm, equal amounts of shooting LH and RH.

Most of the 80 shots were on a soda can hung in front of the pellet trap. Some wind gusts made things more challenging. When the lower half of the can was hanging by a narrow strip, the increasing gusts had even more pronounced effect on the can’s swinging. I knew how much harder it would be to shoot the narrow strip off, so that’s when I sat down to shoot.

It took 74 shots before the bottom clattered down to the trap’s floor, and that can already sported maybe 6 to 8 holes from a previous session.

But hey, I still had 6 pellets to waste shoot on some other hapless object. I chose the one remaining old walnut for this honor. Missed one shot but the others all smacked it, whether LH or RH, though some tossed it into the air rather than holing it. There’s enough of the shell left to use for another time. 

I’m liking this gun more and more the more I use it.

Nice results! If that neon orange sticker and the spinner are both the 1.5” size, just put a fresh sticker on the spinner. I put those on my Crosman spinners, which are 2.5” and 1.5”. Easier than sanding and painting.

It’s been too long since I shot the 880 at those spinners, and I like doing it sitting on the ground, too. Four pumps for 33’.

Haven't been able to do any shooting for almost a week.   Today I pulled out one of my all time favorite guns, the IZH 46M.   Shot some 10 meter offhand.   Felt good to be shooting again.

I've had a couple of disappointing days shooting my pumpers and my springers this week.  Not really bad just not the level of accuracy I expected.  I wanted to really pound stuff today so I brought out the sawed-off Crosman Fire and some 14.3gr Piranhas.  I shot off the tripod and from the seated unsupported position at spinners set up thirty yards away.  Thirty yards is about the maximum that I need to shoot to during hunting season and this gun can stack the Piranhas at that range.  I concentrated on the 1.5" resetting spinner target and was very happy with the results.

Thursday after work is my play date at the LGR.  Today I shot the scope busting jumper prone at 24yards and off-hand at 10 yards.  Felt good to practice "artillery hold" technique.  I can only get better.  The LOP adjustment feels great (thanks Ron).  Practiced recoil management with two other items not to be discussed here.
