Listening to all this talk about names, I've decided to hang on to Blue. My son is going to have to look for another. I've decided to call him, that's right, him; "Malone".

No explanation needed here..
I was born in '56 about 50 miles Northeast of Cleveland, Ohio. Burned out steel and rubber town called Ashtabula right on the lake. My dad was very much a man of the world. Wasted talents beyond imagination. Never saw anything he couldn't do. Master carpenter to country music lyric writer. Played Banjo, all types guitars and mouth harp (harmonica). He had a half moon shaped dual cord harmonica that he could play lead and rhythm on at the same time. He was country to the bone. My oldest brother went to Vietnam and spent the late '60s there. I went to the streets. Hard rock and roll and everything that went along with it. And I stayed with that well into my '40s. Altho it wasn't "cool" and I didn't tell anyone, country ran through my veins. I grew finally grew up in my late 40's. I graduated high school in 2006 at 50 years old. Yeah, I'm a slow learner. I'm just about all country now and songs like that one are my favorites. Story telling ballads. I don't think I've ever heard that one but you can bet I'll hear it more now. Oh and BTW... Blue Streaks are males and Silvers are females... just for the record.

I think many of us baby boomers have been down that road; first hard rock & eventually western. Comes with age I guess. Body slows down & country seems to fit just about right. I think a lot of us can relate to Private Malone. Those were some tough times.

Your father must have been an amazing man. But what amazes me most was your education. I was born in ’57. Not sure I would have had the drive & determination to get it done like you did. Hats off to you my friend!

Sorry. Hate to Rock the Boat but I was born in '62... just a Pup compared to you gents I know.
But as a Kid I had Merle Hagert, Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Roy-N-Buck shoved down my throat every stinking morning before school.
I am a Rock and Roller and always will be! Doc said if I didn't change my life style I would not see 25... HA! LIAR.... Kept it up 'till I was 35... showed him,

Now today, there are even a few new bands that still have the faith.

I discover all of my new music on YouTube these days. Those two links were excellent, I don't know how they got past me. My tastes are so eclectic, there's no pigeon-holing what I like. Here's one for you. It sounds like a soundtrack from a Quentin Tarantino movie, or a spaghetti western. (Actually, these guys are a bunch of neohippies from Oklahoma.)

Both rifles arrived in Albuquerque last night around 11:00. Even though they’re only 15 minutes away, they won’t arrive until latter on this evening. Feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Amazing, they’ve traveled around 1400 & 2000 miles in two days.
