Airguns you shot as a kid

Right on, Mike. Allow me to add that, while open carry has always been legal in Alabama, some sheriffs and police departments didn't like it and would harass citizens who did so; even arresting them for "disturbing the peace" or some such. So a few years ago Alabama passed a new law to strengthen open carry provisions, and specifically forbid police from harassing citizens for merely open carrying.

Yes I was aware of the harassing and the provision to remove that power from law enforcement since I was actually harassed once by my local PD as well.
It is my opinion that it was just a case of police officers not truly understanding the law and the rights it gave to the citizens. I am glad to see that at least our legislators do listen and support the right of citizens to take part in their own role in the protection of our liberty's and families from those who seek to prey on the innocent that are unable to protect themselves and their families.

I believe it is a GOD given right to use whatever force is necessary to protect those we love. Government has no right or power to tells us how or what we use for the purpose of our self preservation PERIOD.  I for one will not comply with any law or person that seeks to disarm me or my family.

+1!!!!  My PB has saved my bacon a few times.  And guess what?  I never had to fire a shot.  That's all I am going to say about that.

All the talk of air guns we had as kids really make me long for the simpler times.  Except that there were no simpler times; only diversions from the realities that it can be a cruel world.

I spent the afternoon at the range today with the air rifles that I wished I had when I was a kid.  The only targets I shot at were tin cans with rifles that had iron sights and some with scopes.

It was the most fun I could have with my pants on!

As a kid it was a crosman 1400 pumper and a daisy 1200 pistol, for PBs it was a Remington 1100 12 ga semi auto and an Ithaca 22LR lever action.. I still have the 1400 and 12 ga today. The 1200 pistol died many years ago and the Ithaca was sold many years ago.

I remember my first bb gun only by its color, it was gold  and it was magnetic feed, you rotated the end of the barrel to load it. It had faux wood furniture  and had really bad sights.You cocked it with the underlever. I believe it was made by Daisy.
I think I was ten or eleven at the time, I remember getting it loading a few bb's and running outside to find something to shoot, I lived in the country so there was plenty of fence post or posted signs to shoot, my grandfather wasn't to pleased with the latter being filled with small holes.

Daisy made a 104 (?) that was a small frame lever action repeater. They were gold colored with a plastic stock and fore end. You twisted the end of the barrel to open the BB loading port. They came with what looked like a telescopic sight but no glass, just a peep sight inside it.

My first bb gun was a Dasiy 840 single pump.  I still remember the day my father bought it from Service Merchandise over the complaints of my mom.  I put thousands of bb's through that gun.  I used my grandfathers old barn as a back stop while shooting cans.  Best thing is I still have it and am teaching my three boys how to shoot using it.  Only problem is its a smooth barrel and its frustrating how inaccurate it is.  Looking to maybe get the crossman 2100 or daisy 840 for the kids to shoot.

Yeah Daisy made a few guns that were called the Golden Eagle. The last one was a 104 with a scope like peep sight on it. Mine is the top gun in the rack on the left.

Thanks for the picture. Did some of the 104's come with a fore end or do I have it confused with something else?
I think I have one some place but like most of them the 'scope' is missing.

You may be able to put a rifled barrel for an 880 in it.
BTW the Daisy model 35 I had was pretty accurate for a smooth bore, and they can definitely take an 880 barrel with a bit of a cut and re-crown .

Mid '70s Crosman 761 XL. Rifled barrel, metal receiver and wood stock and pump grip. Still have it and getting ready to get it up and running again.

Yeah that "scope" is going to be a very hard find. With so many missing, I'd say that kids pried them off for an easier sight acquisition??? From experience, I know they do not come off or go on easily. I have seen 104's with a fore end. Mine did not come with one, originally.

You may be able to put a rifled barrel for an 880 in it.
BTW the Daisy model 35 I had was pretty accurate for a smooth bore, and they can definitely take an 880 barrel with a bit of a cut and re-crown .

Thanks for the info.  Its not bad with bb's but I can't put a pellet down it, too tight of a fit.  Will look at replacing the barrel.

I have many good memories shooting my dad's Daisy model 94 that he had as a kid at my grandparents house when I was growing up.  Whenever we would go visit my grandparents (which was nearly every weekend) I usually had free reign around the yard with his bb gun starting when I was 7 or 8 years old.  Eventually it wore out completely and after loosing power it wouldn't even cock.  I moved onto shooting Daisy 880s with my friends starting in the 6th grade and I got my own .22 cal Daisy 922 that year (roughly 1992).  I also had a friend with a Crossman 760 but I liked the feel of my daisy better.  This last week I was visiting my parents and had ordered some seals and parts to fix his Daisy 94 which he still had.  I brought it back to life and I had a fun time shooting pop cans in the yard with my dad and his 57 year old Daisy 94.  I still have the Daisy 922 at my folk's house too.

I remember my first air gun was about 1946 , it was a break barrel cork shooter ,deadly . Next came a daisey  blued tin pistol  that shoot small lead shot. I finally bought my very own daisey pump bb gun . Actually my older brother bought it for me as a Christmas present. I bought him one at the same time , for him, it was a work around  to beat my parents rules , couldn't buy one for my self. No birds were safe after that. Great fun for 10 and 12 year old brothers. The Daisy pistol was the 118. It used #6 birdshot. Intended to be 'safe' to shoot indoors. The first ones hd a fixed rear sight then they went to an adjustable one.
Your Daisy pump gun was probably the No 25. Top of the Daisy line until the 1894's came out about 1960.

Well, yesterday was a great day. Once again thinking to explore the dark, hidden antechambers of our walk-in closet. Among many wonderful things seeing the light of day once more, we finally found this. My 1966-70 variant one (yes, again!) Crosman 760 Powermaster! In one piece, all original that fired a couple times till the seals went south again. I didn't even open the old box I found it in till I got the camera out! Found it in the box for the AIR17 I'd bought for my son @ age 8 and gave him back last Christmas. Here are the pics I took;

I saved my paper route money to buy this for myself at age 13-16, so that's 1969 to 1972. Most likely 69 or 70. Spent many hours 10M target practicing, then hunting down by Black River. Always took it on vacations to WV and hunted small game with it. Fed my and Aunt Ethel's families with them, as they went out hunting as well. Wore that rifle out having good times with it. Now it's getting a partial restomod. I slightly modify them as I restor them for a bit more power/performance, so I guess you could say I'm a rifle restomodder?
