I'm sure you're right, Steve. I did the same thing with a wagon when they were 2c and then a nickel! Even along the train tracks and drive-in burger joints. All that and a few paper routes. Still wasn't enough. So I have them now.

Let's see. Marksman spring pistol, crosman 760, crosman m-1 carbine and a s&w 79g. Carried the 760 everywhere I went.

I started taking my 760v1 with me exploring the Black River we grew up on. Squirrels, birds, rabbits...

I don't remember the model other than it was a Daisy lever action, and you had to twist the cap on the barrel to insert bb's...
and what I would do is drop "strike anywhere" matches down the barrel 'tip outward' and shoot them against the wall to get that Snap sound.
geez... can't even buy strike anywhere matches these days.

They do make and sell them. usually have them at gun shows.
We did the same thing back in the day.
Tip out without a BB to make a bang when it hit something hard OR tip down with a BB, it would light when you fired it and leave a smoke trail. Kind of like a tracer.

My first springer was a solid black, lever action thing that shot suction cup darts.
Oh wait, that's probably not the type of springers you're asking about.

I don't even remember what I had. Some kind of Daisy lever action bb gun. I wore that thing out.
Knowing what I know now about airguns, I can't believe it had enough power to actually kill small birds.

Then my dad got a C02 powered Crosman and I hated that airgun. I'd run out of CO2 cartriges and couldn't shoot anymore.
My friends had multi-pumps and could shoot all day long. I was so jealous. Someone stole that crosman and I didn't miss it much at all. Then my grandmother got a 1377 for me and I still have it.

My two primary airguns when I was a young teenager were a Crosman 760 Pumpmaster and a Crosman 1377 pistol. I put countless pellets through them.

When I was an older teen, I purchased a Sheridan Blue Streak and a RWS Diana 45.

I really miss the Blue Streak. It got lost when I moved to a new apartment.

The only airgun I had as a kid(at age , was a Daisy 94 lever action.
Parents would never let me have a pellet gun.

By the time I was in high school, that Daisy 94 had the spring replaced at least 3 times and was still going strong.

There was this six shot CO2 revolver my dad had. It was probably a Crossman. It was old and worn out in the early 90's. Then in 96 I got my Red Ryder. Its been well used and abused and was well loved for many many years. Still have it and my brothers too. He doesn't care for air guns these days.

This thread is awesome !!!! A Daisy Red Rider was my first. If I can remember exactly, the FPS was so slow you could actually see the BB fly out of the barrel !!! I think around the age of 10 years old I had a crossman pump. It would shoot BB's or pellets. If I remember correctly, you where not supposed to pump it up no more then 10 times but what are rules for !!!   There wasn't anything that exist like the air guns we have today !

I did and currently still do.
As a kid I had this longer barreled version with a fiber optic front sight, then as a teenager someone gave me an older metal version which is what I have today.
People always dump on them for how low the power is, but I say power doesn't matter for indoor shooting down your hallway.
These marksman pistols have plenty of power for that, the issue is the accuracy.
I'd be perfectly happy with them if you could hit a soda can consistently at 10ft with bb's or a pill bottle at 10ft with pellets, but they just can't do it.
In my experience really none of this format can, whether it's the daisy 2001 or Umarex Dx17  something about this design doesn't lend itself to even marginal consistency no matter the ammo.
