I scoured a lot of blocks for returnable pop bottles... They were worth a dime a piece!!!

Wow!  When I was a kid, the returnable bottles were only worth 2 to 3 cents apiece!   I think I remember when the return went from 2 to 3 cents.   I thought I was in heaven with a 50% increase in my revenue!

1) Daisy Red Ryder: 10-years old
2) Crosman 760 Pumpmaster: 12-years old
3) Crosman 1377 American Classic: 12-years old
4) RWS 45: 16-years old
5) Beeman P1: 17-years old

The two Crosmans were the airguns that I shot the most. They made it possible for me to learn marksmanship at a young age. They also made great hunting weapons. There are a lot of starlings and chipmunks that are no longer breathing because of those Crosmans, lol.

My first was a Daisy Cub when I was probably about 8 or 9 then a Daisy Eagle a couple of years later.  My dad had a 1956 Shooter's Bible that had an ad for the Sheridans that I spent hours drooling over but at $23.95 was way out of our price range.  But I now have several Sheridans and they are every bit as nice as I dreamed they would be 60 years ago!

There was one store that had 5 for a penny hard candy.   My older brother would buy the more expensive candy (1 or 3 for a penny) and was always jealous of me when his candy ran out and I still had plenty.  (chuckle)

My first from age 7 was a Crosman 664gt, tossed it when it stopped working but now I have one again.

I had a Daisy model 25 and later a Crosman 397.  Not sure if that was the Crosman model number back then, but it was the same as the current one.

I had a 3rd variant crosman 760 as a kid with no elevation wedge and no front sight, I was a beer can murder at 25 or so yards max. Now I have a second variant 760 in great shape for being made in 72.

By Friday I'll have 2 German air rifles I'd only heard about back then. Those and the hunting pellets others always told me about. But could never produce.

Didn't have any as a kid,  wanted one but not that much.  My friends did not have them.  The older kid up the road had a RR then a 760 I believe.  Occasionally I got to shoot those.  BBs only from the 760.  My dad had a Marksman single shot BB pistol which he let me shoot when I was a young teenager.

When I was 13 and living in Belgium Dad picked up a well used Diana 23 and BSF 45.  They had no power then and I have since restomodded them to be very nice shooters.  Too bad they set in the corner for almost 40 years.

After highschool some time I bought my Crosman SSP 250 new with just the .177 barrel.  I still have this and shoot it often.  I have a .22 barrel for it and am trying to get a .20 barrel for it.  I killed a lot of rats with this pistol.

Now I guess I am making up for lost time.

I'm sure that can be said of a lot off us? Getting the rifles and pellets we only heard about once or twice back then. Or couldn't afford. Sitting here waiting for my Diana 24D to get here.

My first airgun was Daisy's 'Quick Kill', a lever action BB gun without sights intended to teach deflection shooting to kids.

I got pretty good with it which helped my skill set with shotguns and rifles down the road. Best hunting rifle I have is a Norinco ATD (a Browning BAR 22 knockoff), with a Daisy red dot scope on it. It's great for running game.

2nd airgun was a .22 'El Gamo' break barrel, target rifle. I think that one had the same power or less than a Crosman 1322. It was intended for 10m target shooting.

3rd airgun was a Sheridan .20 caliber. By the time I got that one I was in the USMC and was (technically) no longer a kid.

I had an AR-7 too. Not a terribly bad little rifle. Had I known Bill Clinton was going to ban Norinco firearms from importation, I'd have bought a few more ATD's. That was the best deal Walmart had back in the 90's. A $100 Benjamin would buy a Norinco ATD, a 100 round box of CCI Mini Mags and you'd have enough left from the Benjy to pay for gas to Wally World and back.

Fed Ex delivered a Crosman .22 Summit Ranger to me an hour ago. I cleaned the barrel and sighted it in w/ Benjamin (not to be confused w/ the $100 bill) 14.3 grain HP's. They sure didn't have any airguns like THIS one when I was a kid.

I may be off the radar for a while breaking this SR in. *Smiles*

Had a pop gun first, then Got a Crosman 760 and a 1377 in 76-77 for chrismas.  Also got a Marksman spring pistol (not pictured) which I have.
 Looked all over my folks house and could not find the 760 or the 1377 so I purchased two pristine examples on ebay.  They both had original boxes too.

My mom wouldn't allow air guns in the house.  But my Grandfather grew flowers for shows and had a permit from the department of agriculture to shoot nuisance squirrels year round.  He first bought me  a Slavia 618 and then a Crosman 1400 and encouraged me to kill any squirrel I saw.  Still at it today. I had to keep the guns at his house but that was where I used them most anyway. I crippled quite a few squirrels with the 618 before I figured out that head shots were best.  The 1400 was a big step up in power but it was about as accurate as throwing rocks.  I killed some squirrels with it but always at point blank range.  Still, my buddies with pumpmasters sure envied me.  I passed those air guns on to my little brother when I got old enough to own "real" guns.  Dumbest thing I ever did.

Anybody got a Crosman 1400 that they are willing to part with?

My first air rifle was a Diana 23 my father used to shoot when he was young. I put all kinds of projectiles in the barrel: pellets, paper, matches, pieces of plastic... I shot it until I had to keep the trigger pushed forward or it would shoot spontaniously. Internally the trigger mechanism was totally worn out. I still have it, all rusted and in pieces, but it could be a nice restauration project.
