     Absolutely incredible shooting Carl. I can't wait till I can do the 257 conversion on my Air Force rifle. Your setup is awesome, and that range is fantastic. I too think it will be good bit before anyone else matches your latest accomplishment.

Thanks.......Yes the .257 is an awesome air caliber....To go further someone will really want to do it and have a place and set up and PLAN to do it.......It can be done for sure, just NOT EASILY... If i get a better working gun next season will share......Going for more consistent accuracy...if that works out MAY try for a LITTLE MORE YARDAGE??

Thank You Cedric........Just where do you think I am heading?  I would really like to know?  Not a MILE FOR SURE.....I am satisfied where I am.........Just want more consistent vertical and I will then GO FOR GOOD GROUPINGS like 600 yds and do it all again with increases as I did this year........Better accuracy is KEY NOW.......If that works out to my liking MAY go a LITTLE FURTHER, or NOT, but at this range it is loosing power, as evidenced by the slugs only HALF COLLAPSED....SLOWING DOWN........GRAVITY always wins.

Yes what you say is true in SOME CASES........I have been to local F-class matches and shooting was at the 600 yd line....Seen a couple dudes with stock 16" bbl AR-15, PRONE and rests........With a spotter even trying to help them and they didn't get but about HALF the 20 shots for record on target.....And Target is 72" x 72"........ So in some cases I agree....If you have the equipment and know a little about what you are doing, it isn't so hard........

Thank You Tom...........Next, better accuracy as vertical shifting needs to be greatly reduced..........We, Gunsmith and I, are strengthening the FRAME, pillars in the stock, and steel bedding and securing all with three 5/16" allen head screws to be able to use my inch lb torque wrench and load the screws seating all together. As I do in my F-Class 1000 yd powder rifles........If this works out, then next season will be at same distances, starting around 545  yds with BETTER ACCURACY (I HOPE).........Then i will REALLY feel I have accomplished something!

That's pretty cool !  At the angle the scope is mounted, I'm surprised you could see thru the end of the barrel.

Yes, It was a surprise to me too. As i kept increasing distances by 100 yds to creep up on how far I COULD GO, it seemed I would see maybe the end of barrel around 700 yds by observing the tilt angle of scope...When I tried 800 yds at home on the bench after putting MORE ELEVATION  in the rail and seeing the angle of scope, Looked out the garage through scope and NOTHING BUT CLEAR FULL VIEW.....Then at 900 and finally the 1065 yds the scope is definitely POINTING at the weights on the barrel BACK OF THE AIR STRIPPER???  View is full area at the target,,,,,,,,,WHY, I DON'T know   ......Something I IMAGINE to do with the focus at INFINITY and the weights are few inches in front of scope that the light gathered and refraction, isn't even seeing up that  close?? I fully expected to see bbl end. I purchased a set of SIDE MOUNTS and would have mounted scope to the side and by passed this but didn't become a problem...........

The barrel weights are so close they are out of focus and there is enough light coming past them and into the objective of the scope you don't notice them.... It's kind of like the secondary mirror in a Newtonian telescope, you don't even notice it....

I think you hit on it.  I'm into photography and had this real old 600mm lens.  The newer versions cost about $7000 so I sure wasn't getting one.  I found the old one in a pawn shop and it was beat to *(&^.  The outer lens was full of scratches and marks and looking through it from that end you could not see anything. I cleaned it as much as possible but there were still a lot of scratches.    After I mounted it on the camera and focused to infinity,  nothing but clear picture.

Thank You Pau............Won't need target on the moon sir    I am pretty much done extending the range further...May TRY next summer if all goes right a LITTLE further but let someone else push the boundaries...The .257 WILL GO FURTHER,  but some effort will be required.......

Hard to tell with the music but it sounds like it's taking about 3 seconds from the sound of the report to the bullet hitting. Flight time must be around 5-6 seconds.

Using Handloads.com Ballistic computer which gives "Time of FLight", it only goes to 1000 yds. Extrapolating a bit, TOF at 900 yds=3.5 sec, 1000 yds-3.77 sec and guessing at 1065 yds is close to 3.9 - 4.0 sec TOF?

I measured with a Stop Watch from the VIDEO the Instant I could hear the report of firing to the impact on steel. With HUMAN error of course, the 5 shots, measured twice ranged from 2.4-2.6 second lag ... The sound of  firing was traveling at speed of sound around 1125 fps at sea level, while the bullet started SLOWER, and kept slowing down .....

Interesting with Powder Rifles.....When in Pits pulling targets for 1000 yds matches, and EVERYONE hasn't fired yet or a single slow shooter at the end of firing, the OPPOSITE EFFECT is in play....Bullets still SUPERSONIC passing through target at 1000 yds and hear a LOUD CRACK, and 1.5 sec to 2.0 sec Later you hear the firing of the gun.....When all are firing to much going on and only hear crack of bullet arriving.

Time of flight would be about 4.5 seconds.... likely a bit less....
