More shooting with the Ace Titan 357 cal-

I finally got a chance to shoot more with my Ace Titan 35 cal gun today.  I wanted to find the best power setting to shoot the gun around 850 fps with the JSB 81 gr pellets for the most shots.  I haven’t had a chance to mount and set-up my new scope for it so I just used the Centerpoint 4-16x44 (side focus) scope I already had mounted.  I did my usual, zeroed at 50 yards and then shot spinners at longer distances.  Today I shot out to 90 yards and this gun is a shooter.  I still have to figure out the best power setting.  It has a wheel so I set the green medium dot but my first shot measured 957 fps-whoa.  The next shot was 960 fps.  After this it slowly dropped speed but I got 18 shots in before there was a 2” drop with the POI @ 870 fps.  Accuracy wise, at 50 yards it was one ragged hole.  The recoil is not bad at all especially with the power this gun puts out.  I refilled and set the gun to high power and the first shot measure 960 fps and peaked at 967 fps before dropping down to around 875 fps at 18 shots.  I then set it to low power and got 659 fps on the first shot.  So I surmise there are different setting based on where the power wheel is set.  From reading the manual I thought there was only the 3 settings, but this is not the case.  So I’m going to still have to play around with it to get it completely dialed in how I want it.

I still think the reservoir around the barrel is genius!  You're getting a lot of shots for the lead you're slinging for sure.  That's pretty impressive to be getting 180 fpe after 18 shots.

That is a nice gun, good power too. I like the look of the stock, looks light.

Dang, I would like to get one of those...contacted trainer and they said: "We had ordered a few samples of the Titan in for evaluation earlier this year. Although a great rifle, we felt competing with current big bore offerings, minimum order quantities and the $1000 retail price tag it would be a difficult sale."

I think after 18 shots (81 grains at 875 fps) that is 138 FPE, not 180. Still... that is amazing big bore performance for an 18th shot on a fill! I'm surprised more people aren't jumping on this.

By the way, the peak FPE (81 grains at 967) was 168 FPE. I have no doubt that this gun could get even more than that with a heavier slug (something around 100-110 grain).

This is a truly amazing gun, and beautiful. When I saw the review on another site, I didn't believe the shot strings. I thought it was a typo, or a mistake. But this confirms that you can get 18 shots! out of this thing.

Wow,  I don't know how I got it that wrong.  I obviously wasn't paying attention somewhere, my bad!  I don't which is worse, the fact that I did that, or the fact that it took someone that long to say something, haha!  Please disregard the FPE part, but the other parts are still true

I had the opportunity to do some testing on the Ace Precision Titan over at Trenier earlier this year. The rifle had a ton going for it, but the manufacturer had quite a bit of maturing to do still before they were ready for wide distribution. The majority of the issues were cosmetic (blemishes in finish, scratches from the factory, etc), however there was no real consistency between rifles. Each one shot differently than the next, and for the life of us we could not get consistent shot groups between fills.

That said, I really do believe this company has quite a bit of potential down the road. Hopefully they can pull it all together and be more promising for a future distributor.

Mrod did at one time have some of these guns. The fit and finish were good on the ones I held. Very good feel to the hand but of course I like the TH. Just was like a goose gun in length.
They were nice looking guns with nice grain in the wood.
