AAO Power Tune Install

Finally got my kit  on my .50 Dragonclaw installed today and am fairly happy with the results. Did not have time to shoot much today so any findings are preliminary at best . My shot strings are as follows:
                        with  .495 177gr round ball 795,814,787,778
                        with .498 Mr Hollwpoint 185 gr epug 799,825,815,811
 Like I said, didn't have allot of time today ,but already my fpe is double that of what I was getting.I think as I experiment with different size rounds and fill pressures there  will be more increase in power. Also, I think since all of the components are new there is probably a break in factor involved. Pretty happy with results so far. om Would like to hear fr anyone else installing this kit to compare notes. Happy shooting to all.

What fill pressure were you using for the above strings?  Any issues on the installation?  How did you cut the slots on the receiver?

Thanks Mike, I found a local machine shop and the guy was super nice and did it for $25.00. That was including deburring and polishing everything.I highly recomend a machine shop. Fill pressure was about 3200psi.I used a punch without any major damage.Be careful!Good luck Looking forward to hearing about your install.

Thanks Lee, I agree . My DC was pretty weak, only generating around 140fpe, so I am very pleased with the 280fpe I'm getting now.

  I am wondering what my numbers will be...my out of the box numbers  were: 714,721,710,708.  Only took 4 shots as these things are loud.  Using a 185 grain round ball...about 208fpe.  Will post when I get mine installed.  Will try to machine mine...have a bit of experience, not extensive though.

I think the numbers on your round ball are lower because .495 is very loose fit in the Dragon Claw barrel and air is blowing past the round ball . that's why the 498 even though a heavier bullet was going faster as its a better fit .
You will also find as you use heavier bullets your fps will drop but the foot pounds will greatly increase

You rifle should be shooting the same as Tonys  just remember 495 is on the small side for a Dragon claw barrel so important to shoot bullet between cal .498 and .500 this will help with accuracy and increase your power ..

Hey Mike , I would say you will be getting at least 300fpe.Wish mine was that powerful out of the box.Anyway, it is now. What diameter are the 185round ball? Good luck with your kit. Jeremy is very helpful -great company to deal with.

Thanks Jeremy, I'm going to experiment with larger diameter bullets , as it seems like the larger the bullet more power I achieve.

If I recall right Your bullet diameter is OK ,but roundball should be .500

  Congrats on your first kill with the DC!  Nice doe!  I did shoot my new gun soon after I got it, but need to quiet it down a bit for my yard. Has anyone tried a lubed patch with an undersized RB, similar to what one would use in a black powder rifle?

The lee .500 mold is the way to go for round ball . I'm happy with accuracy out to 50 yards . after that they drop fast . Deadly on white tail deer out of my stock single tube dragon claw .

If they don't shoot well out of your gun your not out a lot of $for the mold ,it's about the cost of a box of big bore ammo .And I'd think it would be easier to resell or trade than a partial box of ammo .
