Available Options for Scopes with AO Starting @ 10 yds . . .

I am aware of (Leaper, Hawke, Vortex, & Optisan)  scope brands that make Scopes with AO that start from distances as low as 10 yds.

From my reading and research, they all seem to be good optics. All the other brands that I have seen have AO that starts at 50 yds or so.

This is a range I shoot quite often, and while I don't mind the limited brand options that I have found & listed, I would like to know if there were other options or brands available regardless of price.

I have a Bushnell AR-223 3-12X40 on my Trail NP2. From 10 yards to infinity. Around $150 on Amazon. Any of their scopes Trophy and above are springer rated. And focus from 10 yards.

I own 2 hammers 3-9x AO scopes ..they go down to 7 yards on the bell however it goes well past that so I would guess 5 yards

for 60$ or less, not a bad scope

I do wonder why I can't find other scopes that are made with adjustable parallax settings that go down to 10yds.

I have the Centerpoint scopes that adjust down to 10yds or less, you can find them a Walmart for $70. It is the adventure class 4x16 40mm AO with mildots. I have these scopes on my airguns and PBs, never had an issue with them.

I believe I've read posts saying minium focus distance works better on some scopes if power setting is turned down.  I know, worthless info if using a fixed power scope   

From what I've seen so far in my limited experience, cheaper scopes don't consistently respond to suggested remedy...IOW the above might work SOMETIMES on the same make and odel.  Looks like y kendlefire needs a new m

My Sun 4-16 has markings down to 10 but can be turned a bit lower.  Check out their Air-A-Tac line.

If cost is of no concern Leupold offers 2 very nice scopes labeled "EFR" (Extended Focal Range) which have adjustable objective lenses that will focus down to 10 or less... 3-9x32 EFR ($350ish) and 5.5-20x40 EFR (around $700)

Check out Sightron and Clearidge.  Sightron is coming out with a model next month that goes down to 8yds., but currently 10 yds. is it.  I have a Clearidge Ultra RM on my HW50S that goes down to 10 yds.

Most all of the Scope Makers will state that their scopes will focus and are accurate at 10 yards.   Truth is that they may well be quite clear at 7 or 8 yards...no problems.  Basically, you'll find that as you go up in magnification you also give up more close range focusing.   Thads why scopes higher than 9-10X are not so popular with hunters.
Don't get hung up with only the internet reviews....get one in your hands and play with it.  Your eye will tell us!
Edit:  There are many happy guys that use Wmart Centerpoint Scopes   They are made under contract by Crosman. Very easy to return for exchange or refund, if you feel you need more. Scopes under $300.00 are most likely China contracts...so brand name has very little to do with what brand is "better".   The company that grinds optical glass for Crosman, also grinds optical glass for Nikon, Leapers, Hawke, and Fuji, if they can get the contract

If your Optima is the same one that comes with all new Hatsan rifles, I have 3 sitting here somewhere in a box. I was pretty new to air guns after 30+ years away, listened to the reviews and upgraded to my Hawke's without ever mounting or using one.

Upgrade from the 3-9, forgot it was AO.  The 3-9x32 I agree not so good unless adjusted for intended range.

I reckon if intended use is not a springer other really outstanding possibilities come to mind...

If you are a shooter that mostly shoots at 60 yards or less, a good 3-9x scope is a great choice.  After all... a scope that zooms just 6x at 60yards, makes the target look like it's just 10 yards away. ..wirh very good" field of vision" still available.  They also tend to be very good at sub 10 yard clarity.  That makes them popular...A/O or not.  I would be more concerned with the scope's parallax setting.  A 50 yd setting excels over a 100yd setting.  Many of us have also re-adjusted our scopes to closer (ie:  35yds).  It is easy if the front lens can be adjusted.  Bottom line is the 3-9x scope is a very flexible and good scope.
