I went all in! Hatsan at44 Tactical

After a prior post and mounds of research I went all in on my first PCP adventure! I bought the at44 tactical in .22, UTG 3x12x44 swat scope, side wheel, utg bipod, utg 200 lumen light a hill mk4 pump and 7 different tins of pellets to run through! Got it delivered today, mounted all the goodies gave it a good look over and started plinking and testing pellets. The only thing I don't have yet is a chrony. I will say this, I am very pleased so far with the quality and performance, I only got to test it in my basement range so far but at 18 yards it shot several pellets in the exact same hole no problem in 5 shot groups, I haven't cleaned the barrel yet as the bore snake I owned will not work on this gun, picking up a new one tomorrow. Had some fun shooting a penny at 18 yards with a Diablo 25 grain you can see in the pick... Will give a more detailed review at the end of the week when I get to know her better and put the pellets through their paces.. Thanks for all the input that helped make my decision, so far I'm smiling!!  BTW, can anyone tell me what this brass fitting is? Can't remember if it came with the gun or the pump but neither show or mention it in the manuals...

Congratulations! Nice choice, seems hou are already pleased. Looking forward to your review. The brass fitting is a degasser.  Remove airtune, threads on, turning the center screw will apply pressure to release air. I had no idea either :-)

Do NOT clean the barrel. If it is shooting good do not touch it. Bought an at44 short and went and shot a bunch of groups sub .250" @ 100ft straight out of the box. Thought cleaning it would make it shoot better. WRONG!!! It took me another 500 shots to get it back to what it was. Hatsan will tell you not to clean it until its accuracy starts to change.

Other then that glad you enjoy it. Did you get QE?

Also, if you use a bore snake, make sure to take out the metal bristles.  They will damage your barrel.  In fact, get some Goo Gone citrus cleaner, and some 50lb test fishing line to make a pull thru barrel cleaner.  Soak cleaning patches in the Goo Gone and pull from breach to muzzle.  Pull patches till clean, then pull thru a dry patch.  But only clean if accuracy starts to fail.

Thanks for the heads up. Yes I got the QE, speaking of which I thought it was kinda odd that the first shot I took I only heard a slight ping, but as I shot it more I noticed the lower the pressure gets the louder it gets.... So at 200 bar it's dead silent except the ping from the hammer, at 180-150 or so the muzzle report shows up... Is that common with PCP guns??

Yes, at lower pressures the valve becomes easier to open, letting more air out.

that brass cap is a degasser for your air cylinder.  Grats on your purchase, I have several Hatsan PCPs and love my AT44 PA and my ATP2 tactical pistol.  I've found the JSB exact diablo heavy (18 gr) are by far the most accurate.  Sub 1 in groups at 50 yards all day.

So I have had a chance to get to know the at44 a little better, tried 8 different pellets so far in my indoor range at about 18 yds and today my out door range at 41 yds. I'm glad to report im still a happy camper, so far I can say I've been very pleased and or lucky with the quality, fit and finish. The gun is quiet, as quiet as I need it to be, the cocking lever had a little grit at first but that's already gone. At 18 yds almost every pellet I shot grouped under a dime, the jsb 15s, 18s and barracuda 21.14 pointed were the best, at 41 yds the jsb15s I was putting hole in hole and the 18s were pretty close but the barracudas opened up a bit, to be fair my shooting table and set up wasn't the best today for the long range.. Will get the table and my shooting rest squared away to get serious about the accuracy this weekend as I really want to see how good it can be. The trigger is good, I'm used to the CTT trigger on my springer, it's not that good but I've not done any adjusting yet, it's not hindering my accuracy, it's way better than the Quattro on my hatsan 95 for sure.. I love the UTG scope, I rate it better than my center point and my Hawke sport.. I will say that although the hand pumping is not as bad as some describe I'm already starting research on a tank set up, it just gets old fast... All and all I couldn't be happier, could I have spent more on a gun? Sure, but for my needs if there is a more powerful, more accurate rifle under 50 yds it would be of no more use than this at44 is to me. I'm happy.  Thanks again for all the help and advice.... I'm really enjoying the move to PCP, the 10 shot mags and zero recoil is a whole new world!! I'm here to stay!
