Hello everyone, just got done with Crosman getting a replacement scope for the Xl 1500 NP rifle. Here is a link to the scope they are sending me. What do you guys think, non-adjustable parallax set to 100 yards, dose not say airgun rated. I e-mailed them about this and they said that is the scope Crosman puts on all of their 500fps+ rifles. I think this one will be going back also.

If this is a warranty thing, don't look for a scope upgrade. Centerpoint scopes have a lifetime warranty but you pay for shipping it back. After a year you will pay shipping both ways. It appears to be an improvement to the scope I originally got with my Nitro Venom. I still have the scope but the Nitro Venom sports a Hawke 3-9 X 40 AO. I think it's a great scope for the money.

Yeah Roadworthy it is on warranty. I say it is a downgrade, not even air rifle rated, no AO. One good reason to get a rifle with open sights, that way when you have scope problems the rifle does not have to sit in the closet unusable waiting for people ignorant of airguns looking after warranty claims.

Update , just got off the phone with Crosman, no help. They say the 100 yard fixed parallax works down to 10 yards, I call bull. Anyone have a fixed parallax scope at 100 yards that you can see clearly through at 10 yards. I have one and I cannot see clearly at 10 yards. I could be wrong, will know in about a week.

Hello Roadworthy, I think I am going to wait for the scope before I go any further, see if it works like he said. If it does not, another phone call will be in order. BBB is also an option that I have used before and works well.

I agree 100%! I have an XL1100 and if that's what they sent me to replace the original scope I would NOT be a happy camper. As I'm sure you know, the scope that came with it was 3-9X40 WITH adjustable objective and MILDOTS. Mine held up fine for 500 rounds(?) and I only replaced it because I got a great deal on the CP 4-16X40 AO at $49.97 on clearance. Definitely call back and ask for a supervisor. That just ain't right!

I don't see where he's asking for an upgrade, just a comparable scope.

I think you must have gotten ahold of a customer service rep that doesn't shoot airguns. If the fixed 100 yard parallax scopes were so versatile, than an adjustable objective scope would serve no purpose. At the very least, it helps to rangefind. But it also adjusts out parallax error- even if the scope is clear at ten yards on the lowest setting, the parallax error could mean your poi might vary an inch in any direction. There is no way of telling for sure until it gets here. Call them back and demand an adjustable objective scope. Dont open the box on the one they sent if it's already on the way. They have gotten used to us just upgrading scopes right out of the box. God forbid one of us expect the bundled scope to function properly and last! You slap a warranty on there, you better honor it!

Your right guys , just want a comparable replacement like is stated in their warranty. Have not recieved the scope yet, thought it would be here today, maybe tuesday, Thanksgiving here Monday. Definately going to hold out on a proper replacement, hopefully make them pay for shipping this one back too.

I am TELLING you, brother! Not only are you getting a fixed parallax scope, but with a 100 yard parallax setting- there are at least a half dozen models they make that are more suitable for air rifles. Regardless to whether it can handle the recoil, a fixed parallax scope is not suitable for air rifle hunting unless it is set at around 30 yards or so. Even fixed at 50 yards is marginal. So even if it were *technically* an upgrade, it is a downgrade for your purposes. If they can't ship you the same scope, then they need to ship the next step up that is a variable with adjustable objective.

Definitely a downgrade going from adjustable AO to fixed Parallax. Just could not get through to the rep about the parallax, he insisted it would work great. There is a scope on their site for ten dollars more than the one they sent me, it has front AO with mil dot reticle just like the one that came with the rifle, a few X more power though. Maybe they think the illuminated reticle is the upgrade, I can do without it.

That's the one I picked up for $49.97. Very happy with it although it is quite long and heavy. Unfortunately, I'm guessing they're not making it anymore. It is making my blood boil to think about it. In my imagination there is some punk kid, who thinks he knows better than you, who is reciting from a script on how to deal with warranty issues and just picked a variable and tried to sell you on it.

You sound like I would react. Even though you know that it'll get straightened out and in the scheme of life it's pretty minor it "sticks in your craw"---what the heck is a craw anyway???

Well I called Crosman this morning, had a lady rep this time, she was reading from the same script as the other rep, asked nicely about the parallax and she put me on hold. I waited for a minute and got disconnected, I called back to speak with Beth, that's here name and got a answering machine, called back again to let them know a complaint with the Better Business Bureau is next and left my name and number on Beth's answering machine.
So a big fail to crosman, crappy company with crappy service.
