HW50S Pellets?

Wasn't there a thread wherein folk had stated that their HW50S rifles enjoyed JSB 7.33 pellets not too long ago?  I seem to recall reading it and stating I'd try the lighter pellet when we got home. 

I just came in from exercising my SHOOTIST tuned HW50S in the backyard with JSB 8.44, 7.33 and AA 7.33 gr. pellets.  My HW50S consistently gave me five shot 3/8" groups at 25 yards with the AA 7.33 gr. pellets.  This was off a rest, of course.  I'm not sure what velocity/FPE she is producing with the 7.33 gr. pellet but the accuracy is quite pleasing.

The real question is:  are 7.33 gr. pellets too light in a tuned with JM kit HW50S?  I hope not because they are a joy to shoot.

Hello Oldgringo, A pellet that is out of a spring piston gun's preferred weight range will give a rougher shot cycle and less muzzle energy.

If your gun shoots smoothly, your gun "likes"it.

Just for reference, my 50S shoots the AA 7.33 at 800fps.  And I have found like you that this pellet is very accurate, as long as the wind isn't blowing to much.  I get similar 3/8" groups at 25 yds. in calm wind conditions. Your rifle may shoot this pellet at slightly different velocity, but it should be fairly similar.

The SHOOTIST tuned HW50S and I skipped church today and worked out over the Chrony F1 with some AA 7.33 gr. pellets.  The 10 shot readings (with a couple of mulligans  ) were:

Avg.   745.6 fps
SD.      14.3
ES.      11.7

The 10 shots left one ragged hole in the paper at 25 yards.  She is such a joy to shoot, I think I'll keep her.
