2 good sized grays today with the .22 Carbine 880. Both shots 17 to 20 yards, both brain shots. It started raining lightly when they both came out. The female weighed in at 1 lb 6.4 oz and the male at 1 lb 5.2 oz. They are currently cooking for dinner.

Thanks Disco Dave and Ed! Getting ready to pull them out of the oven now. Cooked slowly in some of my homemade apple jelly from our tree's. With baked beans on the side. My beautiful wife is eating leftover chicken and the beans. She alway's tells me " I will eat them when I have to" . So until then, the nutters are mine all mine

The last 2 days I have been too busy to nutter hunt. i thought I would get an afternoon hunt in yesterday, but it never happened. This morning, a light rain shower now and then, seemed perfect.

I walked out to the nutter woods and boy was it dark in the hemlock and oak grove. I no sooner sat down and I heard a red then caught his movement in the tree tops. And like magic he disappeared into the leaves.

Maybe 10 minutes pass and I hear a noise and see movement behind me. A gray nutter. No shot so I just sit patiently. A minute or so later I hear the scratching sound of a nutter coming down a tree. it's the red, 15 feet from me, 3 feet from the ground. I am carrying the 901 .22 conversion. It is surprisingly dark still for 7:30 am in the nutter woods. Now I'm close, too close but he is frozen on the tree as that strange looking camo stump just moved. I aim dead center on the little red. Figuring my pellet would hit a little low. I squeeze and he falls the 3 feet to the ground without a twitch. I then picked up my coffee and listened and watched. Saw the gray nutter a few more times, then he was way out of range.

Nice morning hunt. And the .22 Crosman pointed hunting pellet hit right where I aimed at 15 feet much to my surprise.

Will do Ed! I'm working on a couple different pumpers to ultimately make into hunters.

I went out for a couple of hours this morning. Saw 5 Grays and 1 red. No shots on the grays. I was ready to take a 30 yard shot at the red, and JUST as I was about to squeeze he ran from the base of the tree to the tippy top. It was his lucky day

I have an 880 I bought for my grand daughter but haven't done any mods to it. Is the one you have all plastic stock and receiver, or is it and older one with a metal breach?

I probably have a dozen 880's

99.9% of the kills were with a 2014 or newer plastic receiver 880. 1 kill posted here was with a metal receiver 880. I prefer the modern plastic ones. Easier to mod and get lots of power from. And they pump real quiet. The stocks don't wiggle like on the metal receiver ones...lots of reasons I prefer the new ones.

And incidentally, all 880's have a metal breech. Under the plastic receiver the 880's are all metal where it counts, including the piston.
