Yes, Phil; it was a good day. I was looking in my backyard this morning and the squirrels are acting the same as those in the woods yesterday. I should have gone again. Maybe tomorrow?

Great hunting stories Mike. Thanks for sharing them.Thanks for the honesty about getting skunked, missing shots, and even the one that crawled away. Gives me hope that I can eventually get those two that taunt me every morning in the front yard. (No shot there- too many houses and cars.)

I need to check into the hearing aids as well. I had a hearing test a few years ago and they confirmed the hearing loss. I can tell it is affecting my ability to detect sounds squirrels and other animals make. I was exposed to a good amount of gun fire without hearing protection when I was younger (and stupid). It didn't help that 6 Blue Angels F-18's flew over my head with afterburners either 10 years ago

I have gotten 3 squirrels in the same hunt and that was the best hunt I have had!

Wednesday - December 9, 2015

This morning dawned a little foggy. I usually don't do well when it is foggy and this morning was no different. The four squirrels I saw early didn't want to have anything to do with me. I moved to a different part of the woods just as the fog was lifting. The spot I decided to hunt has a fallen limb for me to sit on. I sat there and shot five squirrels out of the same tree. The only let down was that the first one actually jumped out of the tree when I shot too near it. It hit the ground, looked around, and scampered back up the other side of the tree. No blood where he was so I think he was okay. The next four came in one at a time and allowed me to reload between arrivals. You may notice that the first picture shows two squirrels. I didn't place them like that - that IS the way they landed. Number three and four were about three feet apart on the next 1/3 of the tree. Great hunt!
[size=78%]But the day was not finished. When I logged on about noon, I had a PM from Dave (Nail Gun) my hunting buddy. He said he would be in my area and would like to join me in a hunt. We got into the woods after 3:00 o'clock and started seeing squirrels almost immediately. My squirrels were mostly moving away. Dave was a little luckier and downed one with a beautiful head shot (POLYMAGS). Sorry, no picture because we hunted until dark. Maybe next time.[/size]
