Range marker stakes are placed.
Neighborhood redtails are ready to eat free lunch.
1000's of starlings roost nightly in the treeline across the street.
Now I need to lure them into my backyard killzone.

The darn things are all over my neighborhood, but they won't set foot in my yard anymore, maybe the word got out. You would think that with a feeder of free food in the back yard, you couldn't keep them away. They seem to prefer bugs over seeds though, and the mocking birds have a lock on most of the bugs in my yard.

Maybe try different bait - cat food, suet, crackers, stale bread, pizza crusts, etc.
I don't think they are seed eaters normally
Last winter I had no shooting until the frigid, snowy weather started.
117 confirmed kills in a 6' wide by 25' long killzone in my backyard, in a few weeks.
Best one day total was 17.
When the thaw started, they all left.
I saw some in the front yard once the ground became exposed.
Hoping for another cold, snowy winter this year.

put up a bird feeder with plenty of black oil sunflower seeds and also a suet block ... I can't keep the starlings away from my feeder set up like this.. they all flock about 60 yds out from the rear of my house in the woods...they are in for a rough winter, I didn't have a pcp last year

And the tree rats are finding less and less cover to hide in. We watched 3 of them yesterday afternoon. They stayed on the move jumping from tree to tree. Couldn't get one shot off. We have pecan, walnut and chestnut trees and they were snatching them right off the branches and running for cover.

Haven't spied one tree rat all summer, they don't bother me until winter anyway when they set up shop in my eaves.

I dumped the old used oil from my deep fryer in my kill zone last fall/winter. They like that stuff.

Squirrel season opens Thursday Oct 1 here in the county I live in in Texas. Going to get things ready Monday to take out a few of them Saturday morning. Going to sight in my .25 with Polymags.

I got my Disco specifically for this purpose.  They were around all last year and even tried to raise a couple broods, but I haven't even seen one around for nearly a year .  Luckily for me I've got a decent selection of places to hunt and still haven't exhausted several possible options.
My best hunting still seems to be from around March through June and a little into July occasionally.   I've already spent over 1000 pellets learning my gun's potential and have only stopped to wait for my next order of JSBs to come in.
You know you're dedicated when you start seriously planning to raise a few cattle in order to attract them.  Keep the attractant tips coming; I need all that I can get.  Still waiting to get to Micheal's to look for some decoys...
