Woods Walker Prod arrived today (Review & Testing)

I just drew a centerline on the bottom of the blank and used woodworking gouges.. Like round chisels to carve it out. Start with a small one down the line and then work your way up. You have to keep testing it to follow the angle and shape of the stock, but it doesn't take too long to get it there. A round file could be useful once you get close just to get a good fit. Mine is a decent fit. Gorilla glue expands some as it cures so it fills out ok. It kind of bubbles out, but once it's cured you can cut the excess away with a razor blade or an exacto knife.

Thanks for the tips! I don't have a full set of gouges, only a couple basic ones for the lathe, I might see if I can adapt them for this purpose. I think I may have some pecan that I could cut the blank out of, and go from there. I'm not sure if I would be ready for the permanence of gluing, so I might try to see if I can use velcro tape on the stock and the cheek riser, that way I can modify and/or replace if I don't get the height just right, or if I want to change it later.

I almost got the woods walker also but settled on the regular p-rod.  Mine shoots very well,  I get 24 shots from 2500psi down to about 1500 shooting JSB 18.1's on average 600fps.  1/2 inch groups at 25 yards so I'm sure I need to find a better pellet for this gun but it is definitely a blast to shoot!  Glad you like yours also William!

That should tell you how much I enjoy mine 

You may find out that beyond 25 yards the heavier pellets will fall off real fast and groups will open up greatly! Mine loves the Crosman HP's 14.3 grain and the JSB 13.43 grain. They will shoot 1/2" and less if i do my part at 30 and 35 yards.

This little wonder gun needs the lighter pellets to keep the FPS up in the higher 600 to 700 FPS range to stabilize the pellet better, that's what I think I am seeing! It will shoot heavy pellets at close range hole in hole at 20 yards and under, but after that they scatter to much and drop 3 inches at 30 yards.

I zeroed mine in at 30 yards and it is dead on from 10 to 35 yards with either the 14 grain Crosman or the 13 grain JSB, it will also nail a 3/4" dot every-time!

According to the specs on PA's site it's a 2900 PSI fill limit.

FWIW: All Prods and sister 1720T's are a 3000psi fill, as marked on the left side of the breech.  PA made a typo or copied bad literature from crosman.

I just purchased a prod myself.  LOVE this gun.  I will note that, though the gun itself says 3000PSI fill limit, both PA, AirgunDepot, and the prod manual itself recommends 2900psi.  AirgunDepot states:

NOTE: ONLY FILL TANK UP TO 2900 PSI! Crosman has informed us that if the tank is filled right up to 3000 PSI then reported, this will lower velocities. Please fill to 2900 psi only. Going to 3000 will cause a bit of valve lock and low velocities will be the result. The manual states 2900 psi as the Recommended fill pressure (section 11). Thank you!

Yesterday I tried the jsb 13.43 and jsb 15.9's.  They both shoot pretty darn good if you ask me,  I got roughly 1/2 inch groups at 25 yards with both of em.  I think when my new Hawke scope arrives tomorrow I will have a better chance of finding the more accurate pellet.    I have been using a 4x32 Leapers and really need a bit more magnification at 25 yards and beyond.  Especially shooting groups.

Absolutley perfect, Pics included 
I finally got around to gluing the cheek rest on you made, I decided to give a go at camouflaging it to match the rest of the PRod. Well all I did was got some clear locetite glue and glued it on top of the original stock, then I got some camo tape and first put a little sticky glue on the cheek rest and stuck the tape to it. The spots I could get the tape to stick (the ends of the rest) I just used a little dark camo paint and touched them up. It fits perfect and looks great I think!

I cannot thank you enough for what you have done, it is really nice to have someone help others out. I will cherish that cheek rest for ever, or at least until Alzheimer's sets in lol

Thank you, I am tickled with the outcome, I was going to leave it wood but decided to camo it. The fit is perfect and all I had to do was add some good glue for a good semi-permanent bond! One day I will get a good center piece of something to fill the center of the stock and fix it so I can store my magazines in.

I have no idea really. It isn't much more than the stock carbine that comes with it though.

That is funny, I just wouldn't want the squirrels to see me after them with what looks like AR or something, I don't need to stir up anything among the wildlife, you never know they may want to start protesting against multi-shot hunting guns!!!
