Hatsan Torpedo 150 Sniper

Anybody have one of these ? Any reviews I've come across are in a foreign language. Am thinking about buying one in .22cal but am apprehensive about the rotating barrel lockup and the cocking force required. Thanks.

I've got a 100x and a 155 both in .177. No problem with the bolts. Sold a 155 .22 to a bud. He loves it.
I've also got a .177 135 and .177 Dominator 200s carbine, a Striker 1000 Vortex .177. Also old pawn shop buys, Winchester and Daisy 1000's and a Winchester 800x all made by Hatsan. I Like my turkey guns.

I have the .25 cal 150 torpedo and it is a beast that shoots 32 FPE with 25g JSB's. Better have strong arms to cock these buggers.

Never had a problem with bolt lock up but it takes about 57 lbs to cock it. I don't have any issue with it.

I just got a Torpedo 150 Sniper(vortex) a couple of days ago.  I finally got a chance to shoot it today, although I got it set up with the scope mounted etc. the day I got it.  I don't see any problems with bolt lock up happening.  It's a BEAST for sure.  You guys are right about one thing, it takes some serious force to cock the underlever!  If cocking force is a concern, then it's probably not the gun for you.  It feels like a beast  too.  With the scope(Leapers/UTG 3-12x) mounted, it weighs in at 12.2lbs!  It's heavier than any firearm I own.  I makes my 7mm RemMag feel light.  Again, this gun is not for a lightweight.  I only shot about 20-30 rounds through it today.  I can tell from the penetration, that it has pretty good power.  I can't tell you a lot about it, since I haven't shot it much yet, and I'm sure there is a little bit of a break in period needed.
My initial impressions are:
-Heavy gun
-High cocking effort
-Good power down range
-Seems well built
-Not too loud, as it has a real sound moderator on it

This leads me to question for you Hatsan guys on here...  How many shots did it take you for the gun to reach it's normal accuracy?  I was able to get the scope pretty close, but the groups aren't where I want them to be as far as accuracy is concerned.  I shot about 8-10 shots with  three different types of pellets, and all were grouping around 1.5" at 20yds.  I tried the Crossman Ultra Magnum (14.3g?) domed, the Benjamin 14.3g domed hollow points, and the H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme 19g.  I feel like I should be able to do better than that?  My other gun is a Gamo Accu177(same as a CFX I believe), and I can shoot sub .5" groups with it at the same distance.  I'm a pretty good marksman, and I know if it's me screwing up the shots.  I don't think that was the case with the Hatsan today.  I'm thinking I'm going to give the barrel a good cleaning, and give it another go this week to see if the groups tighten up after I put more shots through it.  What do you guys think?  Thanks in advance for the advice!

I had a Torpedo 105 and returned it. The cocking lever fell loose at almost every shot. I also didn't like the tedious cocking/loading procedure ...too many things to do just to get it cocked and loaded. Also, it is not a true "fixed barrel" gun like most under/side levers in that the actual barrel rotates within a shroud and there is the possibility of "slop" when locking the bolt, especially as things wear.

All in all it seemed like a reasonably well made gun, but no where near as accurate as the two Diana side levers I have. If you do buy one, I'd suggest buying from a vendor with a 30 day return policy and give it a good workout to see if it is the right gun for you.

My .25 Webley Patriot is about 10 pounds unscoped. I always thought my Dad's 12 ga. browning A5 was heavy until I got my Patriot.

I usually shoot about 40-50 pellets thru them to check muzzle velocity with different pellets and trigger pull and adjustment and to blow the oil out before I put a scope on it. After that all my Hatsans shot good. Haven't shot the 100X or 155 in awhile. The 135 shoots flat out to 50yds. Same POI at 25 or 50 and shoots tight groups. As I remember the 155 was the same. Been trying the 135 at 100yds. Best I did awhile back was with the gun zeroed for 25yds and 3 or 4 mil dots of hold over at the top of a 17 inch tall target, it dropped about 14 inches. Two hole directly below the POA half inch apart and the third hole three inches to the left. Re-zeroed the Dominator carbine Thursday and it is shooting 1/4 inch groups at 25 yds.

I'm going to try and put some more rounds in it after work today.  If I can't it to group better after that, it will be going back.  I want to like it, because it's got some good "oomph", and isn't too loud.  I also don't want to deal with the hassle of sending it back.  Like I said before, I can get used to the cocking effort and weight.  I hoping some more people that may have purchased this specific gun will chime in, before I make that decision.  The fact that I have someone interested in buying my Accu177 right now doesn't help.  I know that gun has it's quirks, and some people think it's junk, but it sure is accurate!  Thanks for the input so far guys!!

Donny, I don't hunt and just shoot off a bench. My 155, well all my big springer, when I cock them I place the butt pad on my thigh close to my belly and start the cocking lever or barrel down with one hand then reach around the gun and grab it with the other hand . Two hand cocking.

The three pellets you mention in your first post: Crosman, Benjamins and H&N's. I've never had any of their pellets shoot good in any of my guns. That's my experience with those pellets. I'm sure some other guys love'em. I just buy RWS and JSB pellets now. One of my .22 Mendoza's likes AA Falcons.

I had a .22 155 I sold to a friend when I found a .177 155 on sale. My old notes said the .22 liked JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy Diabolo domed 18.13grs. Haven't found what the .177 likes yet.

The cocking effort and weight aren't that big of a problem for me.  I one hand cock it just fine.  My biggest concern is the accuracy.  If I'm going to get rid of a pest, I want to do right.  I shoot targets too, but if I do shoot a pest, I want it to be as close to instant as possible.  I also shoot beside pest geese in the water to scare them off, and don't want to actually hit one, or wound one.  That's the one thing I love about my Acc177.  It has proven to be VERY accurate for me with 9.5-10.5gr. pellets.  After shooting the Hatsan, and then shooting the Gamo, it felt like I cocking a toy gun,lol!  I was unable to find the Gamo when I got it in .22, and I wanted something with a bit more power.  Like I said, I know there are much better guns out there, but I really can't complain about the Accu177 for the $$.

Today, I cleaned the barrel on the Hatsan and gave it another go.  You are correct about it liking the heavier pellets.  The Crossman Premier Ultra Magnums tend to work well in A LOT of different guns, but they are just okay in this one from what I can tell.  They are 14.3gr, and it seems like anything much lighter would go super sonic in this gun?  I do live in city limits, so I have to be careful about that.  That's also another reason I wanted to move up to the .22.  I shot mostly the H&N Barracuda Hunter Extremes today, which are 19.09gr., and it seemed to do much better.  I'll have to order some of the JSBs to see how they do.  I seemed to get better after I put about 20 more pellets through it, and I'm sure cleaning the barrel didn't hurt either.  Long story short, I was able to keep 10 shots under a quarter this time at 25 yards.  Now, I'm starting to get to where I need to be.  I feel much better about the gun after shooting it more today!  I think it should pretty accurate after I get more used to the gun, and do some trigger adjustments.  If it weren't for a couple of minor flyers(I think they were me with a bad trigger pull), I think the group would have been under a nickel. 

Once I get more practice in, adjust the trigger, and narrow down the pellets, I should be on the money   On a side note, I'm really loving that leapers/utg 3-12 power scope.  It's the one with the 30mm tube.  You guys think I'm on the right track now, or am I crazy?  Oh, and thanks again for the input!

Well, it looks like I may have spoken too soon in regards to the rifle starting to get better with accuracy.  I think I may have a seal issue or something?  Just when I was starting to get good groups, it started shooting lower by about 3 inches at 25 yards.  Then it would shoot back up to where it was before it dropped, and then back down.  We're talking about 5-6 shots low, and then one normal.  The scope is solid, and the groups were still groups and not flyers.  I also noticed it seemed easier to cock when it was shooting low.  I haven't shot any overly light or heavy pellets(14-19gr. .22cal), and I certainly haven't dry fired it...  I really wanted this gun to be a my new favorite too.  Anyway, long story short, I'm still well within my 30 day return window, so I'm going to send it back.

My question for you guys is, should I get a another 150 vortex sniper, or do you recommend another gun in that price range?  I really like the idea of a fixed barrel, although I figured out the 150 was actually not a true fixed barrel after I got it.  I know the fixed vs break barrel debate is basically a draw from what I read.  I guess it's just my logic telling me a barrel that doesn't move must be more accurate.  I am open to either if you guys have recommendations.  OR, do you think I should just bite the bullet, and spend some extra $$ and go PCP(AT44, Marauder etc.)?  I don't like the idea of having to pump my gun up all the time, but I know the PCPs are really nice shooters.  I would also prefer not to throw that much $$ into it, but  I want to really like whatever I get.  I would also like to stick with a gas piston, since I already have a springer, but that's not mandatory if it's the right gun of course.  Medium sound level or less is required.  Last, but not least I want to go with .22 cal with good power/accuracy.  I know, I want a cadillac for the price of a geo,lol! 

I would love to know what you far more experienced air gunners think on this.  Suggestions please!  Thanks as always

Hard to believe it of a UGT but that 150 Vortex may have broke your scope. Make sure the scope, mounts and rings are tight and the stock screws are tight. Or take the scope off and use the open sight to see if it shoots ok. Big guns like that I try to shoot awhile before mounting a scope to get all the oil blown out so dieseling don't break the scope.

You need to chrony the 150 to see if the seal is toast, I had mine go bad within 50 shot after receiving it. sent it to hatsan usa and they fixed it better than new for the cost of shipping to them, now I get 754 FPS with 25 grain JSB's it shot 425 FPS with the bad seal.

Like I said, the scope is solid.  All screws are tight, and zero movement in that department.  I don't own a chrony, or I would have checked it.  I have to use my best guess when it comes to that.  The fact that it was easier to cock when it was shooting low was what made me decide it was time for it to go back to pyramid, since I am within my 30 day period.  It was after about 100 shots that this phenomenon occurred...

My Hatsan is only the 95 Vortex .25, but from everything I read before buying it (and I looked at a lot of different Hatsans) most reviews were saying break in took 200-300 shots. I also had the drop issue and thought it was either a screwed up barrel or a scope gone bad, turned out to be just the stock screw behind the trigger coming loose so like lefteyeshot said, check all those stock screws, i used blue loctite on mine, been dead on since as long as I do my part.
my .25 also took care of the racoon problem I bought it for..probably a very lucky shot on my part but 20 yards or so and a head shot with an H&N Crow magnum, it squirmed for 20 seconds or so and was done.
