NP2 and Leapers UTG 4-16X44 AO SWAT scope problems

I got a leapers 4-16x44 SWAT AO today in good condition,  second hand for $70.

I  mounted it on my NP2 and I can't Zero it.  I run out of up elevation.  Now,  I have not had this issue with any 1" scopes. Have I bent my barrel? Is  the scope bent? How would I  eliminate common causes?

1st center the adjustment, and make sure the turret is not stripped,or the Allen screws are not loose that holds the knob tight on the turret, next check the rings, are they on the weaver rail correctly,does the ring have a stay bolt in the center of one of the rings, if necessary, add some grip tape under the front ring to see if it will get you to zero, or the rear, dependent upon which way you need to go,i have 4 of those scope,s and no problems other than 1 Allen screw backing out on my side parallax adjustment, and the knob just free wheeled.

Everything is tight on the scope.  I used the mirror trick to get it close to center.  It's weird because I had barrel droop issues with both my NP XL and my Titan GP but not the NP2.

Maybe I did manage to bend the barrel somehow.  I'll try a different  scope and if it doesn't zero because of running out of up adjustment then it's the gun.

What is the mv. of the gun, and, how close are you trying to zero? 10, 15, 20 yards?

Normally, I get on paper at like 10 yds then stretch to the max of my current back yard setup,  which is 25 yds. 

As far as the muzzle velocity,  I'll let you know tomorrow.  I  just got a brand new Caldwell Precision Ballistic Chronograph from the local Cabellas. They price match Amazon so I  only paid  $75 for it. 

I also picked up a set of Blackhawk XHIGH 30mm mounts, good for up to 50mm objective, and this leapers is a 44.

I double checked and the barrel isn't bent. I'm pretty sure its something to do with the distance from the scope to the barrel.

Best bet is to mount the scope with it optically centered and fire a few shots off @ 30 yards and see where you are hitting.  Then remove the barrel shroud and bend the barrel to get it in line with the scopes sight, re install the shroud and test fire a few shots and repeat the process until you are close to the center so you can have all your adjustments on the turrets.  Of course if it is only up/down that needs correcting then a set of adjustable mounts (droop mount) would be easiest.

Recently had the same problem when I put a Leapers/UTG 3-9 40 AO True Hunter on my Black Ops.  Zeroed in at 10 but ran out of up at 25.  Checked the rails and rings and screws, couldn't get it to work.
Moved it to my .22 Rimfire and it's been good to go.

The Black Ops has a questionable rail for mounting a scope.
To much paint or something on it not to mention it just doesn't look right to me for some reason.

Ok the Chrono results are in and the issue is the gun.  The few shots I fired with CPUM 14.3 grain pellets were around 550 fps. I called Crossman and ordered a new gas ram, piston assembly $25 (you can't get just the seals, no part #), a couple of beach seals, 2 of the plastic baffles for the end of the barrel, a trigger pack ($15), and I think that's it. Total shipped was under $60. Shipping back to Crossman would have been around $30 and then I'd be without my gun for who knows how long.  It may have been my fault. I accidently dry fired it once, thinking I had loaded a pellet. They say a single dry shot can ruin the gun and void your warranty.  So in a few days I'll tear her down and fix her up.

I have had a new piston, compression chamber, and gas spring  for my NP XL and I went ahead and lubed and installed it all. My first few over the chrony with 21.14 grain H&N copper plated round nose were over 800 but it settled down to about 715 fps with those.  It's getting about 900 with 14.3 CPUM. It sends the pba pellets supersonic. 

I also swapped the new CBT Crossman trigger from my NP2 to my NP XL. I love the new trigger. I'll post pics shortly.

And I test fired my Titan GP/Benji Trail Hybrid (I ordered a compression tube, barrel assembly, and shroud from the Trail NP because I wanted a Picatinny rail instead of dove tail, and installed in GP stock with GP spring). It sent the CPUM 675 fps. Not bad, right?

Looks like my XL has the opposite issue of the NP2. At 20 yds I had to use all the Down adjustment and was still high. I  bent the barrel to get on target and then I shimmed  4 coke can shims and 1 piece of tape. I was then at the very bottom of the target and was able to adjust up to get a little adjustment in each direction. 

I am going to look into a,more powerful spring and increasing the size of the air port a bit to maybe increase the volume/time amount of air behind the pellet.  The XL has large compression tube volume. I think maybe a Hatsan 135 may be bigger, not sure. 

I know there is a chart somewhere here that lists springs that will fit from various manufacturers.
