Rust in airtube

My PRod airtube developed a couple of heavy rust spots. What are the best procedure and materials to stop and prevent the rust?

Your Subject title says IN airtube, but your photo shows rust ON your airtube.

Is there rust inside the airtube?

Seems the cure might be different for each case.

3 in 1 oil works well to remove and protect

WD40 will cut the rust off as well.

I use 'Big 45' pads for rust removal on blued surfaces. Stuff is economical and works extremely well.

Take an old real copper penny and scrape away the rust... this helps to protect your bluing to a great degree.... and it gets rid of the rust better than does steel wool.

My dad's Mrod looked worse after he left it in his garden shed for a week.  Cleaned up with WD-40 and rubbed Rem-oil on the metal to prevent future rust.  So far so good...  Then again it hasn't been subjected to the garden shed since then.

Using a lint free rag and 100% silicone fluid, wipe/remove the rust. Wipe down the gun with a silicone cloth before storing the gun after each use, to remove fingerprints and to leave a layer of rust inhibiting silicone. For extra protection, you could also store the gun in a silicone impregnated gun sock.


100% silicone fluid does not contain any petroleum distillates, so it's safe to use on all PCP air guns.
