Been playing with the MAC30BR some more. I like how its shooting.
Running a bit late with this, just got home.
So I took a small vacation with a couple of friends in Connecticut.
Would have posted this a lot sooner but engine trouble held me up.
Anyway, I brought up a bunch of targets for them to use and ended
up going to their Labor Day fun shoot and the MAC did OK, or should
I say I did OK and the MAC did great. Mostly shot against and with
center fire and rimfire rifles and 2 Condor 257's. I still held my own.
they were shooting 30, 50, 75 yard sets. The range was small so 75
was the farthest. Most of the guys were impressed with the MAC
and couldn't believe it was air.
The best fun I had was when I first set it up, one of the judges said
he thinks a 50 cal would be a bit overkill. So I got to show off the
MAC system.
A few guys seamed interested and I was allowed to compete. Luckly
my friends had extra air tanks, My Great White was not enough. All in
all it was a fun time. I hope some day we'll have more bigbore airgun
competition up here in Maine.
Here is a picture of my best 75yd set, had a dispute about center hole,
I could swear I put three in the center but the judge says otherwise.
My 50yd could have been better but I did have fun shooting the MAC30BR.
All my shots were with the 44.75gr JSB King filled to 3500psi which
for me meant more cartridges filled, and for the additional 20fps
average I didn't see the gain, but at that I would have had less fills.
I am posting a couple of pics of my MAC but I should state this is
a one of a kind build.
So here are the numbers I am getting at this time:
JSB Kings 30 cal. 44.75gr @3500psi fill, average 820fps
JSB Kings 30 cal. 44.75gr @4000psi fill, average 840fps
JSB Kings 30 cal. 50.15gr @4000psi fill, average 816fps
If you had a 6000psi tank and filled to 5000-5500 shooting the
50.15gr JSB's you would probably even do better at accuracy,
but without a way to fill to those levels I cant test that theory.
I must say that these numbers are very do-able.
Inovairtech is planing on releasing a MAC30BR but it would have a
black lower and their regular AR15 style buttstock. I do believe
they "might" be offering a PRS stock option and if they do I would
highly recommend it and an Accu-Shot Mono-pod. For the PRS to work
you would need to add two screws. Let me know if interested I'll
send a picture.
I also think they are going to release a standard MAC30. The best
thing to do if you are interested in a 30 caliber MAC is call them direct.
The only CON I have at this time is the trigger, and I'm sure someone
out there probably knows how to make the change. The trigger is single
stage, there is no stop or tension or notch, you pull slowly till it
fires. I wish it had that stop just before it releases. Maybe I'll do
better when I get used to the release.
So come on guys I do know there are others out there with MAC's
some of you are hunting Hogs in Texas with them. Lets hear from you,
how are your MAC35's doing?
