Myshooters, and you?

I have finally managed to settle down on getting Air Rifles, and what to get.  I am at the point where, if I had to I could pair things down to just two of each of these (primary and backup) (plus my 101, it stays with me till I die), and be quite happy.

So there are four Air Rifles in my collection that are my main shooters, and that I mostly focus on.

• Crosman 2289: I already have two (ok 5 of them), and they are all good shooters, moded for power and precision.
• Crosman 2240: I only have one of these, I have done the basic power mods to it.
• Daisy 953: I have one, and one coming.  I power mod these as well.

And the reason for my personal choices?

The 2289 is a reliable easy to work on easy to pack carbine, and it is completely self contained.   These are important qualities for me.  The 2289 produces sufficient power for all the small game I hunt (at least mine do).   And I enjoy shooting the 2289, and can shoot it accurately enough for my needs.

The Crosman 2240 with 1399 stock has most of the advantages of the 2289, with the added advantage of faster follow up shots and the disadvantage of requiring CO2.   Again I enjoy shooting the 2240 and am able to shoot it accurately enough for my needs.

The Daisy 953 is a great full sized rifle that shoots way more precisely than me.  I can shoot amazingly precisely with my Daisy 953, the clips make it possible to shoot up to 10 aimed shots per minute for me.  And after the power mods I have done to my current 953 it is good for short range small bird, lizard, and frog hunting, as well as close range squirrel, chipmunk, and rabbit (though only after the power modifications), its precision does help with this.

And my other Air Rifles??

I will keep my Crosman 101 until the day someone takes it from my dead remains.  It is part of me.

My Daisy 880's will be passed on to those that earn it in this area.   Youth that deserve a good shooter that is.

My 881 will remain in the closet coming out once every month for maintenance shooting, and regular maintenance.

My P17 managed to get stolen, so that is no longer an issue.

My Crosman 140's stay at the ready, being shot a couple times per week.   These are the most powerful Air Rifles in my collection, and if I ever encounter the emergency need for there power level at a range to far for the .36 cal revolver it is nice to have them there.   Not to mention that it is fun to show off with a Crosman 140 from time to time.

Is any one else working at slowing there rate of collection?    Or even pairing down there collection?   If so what rifles do you put as your top/most used?

MY main hunters have been

Dicovery .22 with heavier hammer spring shooting 18gr exacts
Crosman 2240 pcp carbine/ pistol (whatever im feeling that day)

Both have proven themselves to be awesome hunters and have taken loads of game

Now I have my new m rod .25 that im just getting to know,  have a scope coming for it friday and ill get to see how it does at distance, although it has already taken its first squirrel today   SHould be the number 1 hunter when its together.

My other guns

Hatsan 125 sniper-  honestly wish I didnt buy this gun and it will probably just rot in the closet now
Crosman 2260- rotting in closet but is a great pesting gun if I ever feel like putting it back together

Forgot this part

the 2240 has the most kills as it has been my main hunter for about two years before I bought the disco, lots of squirrels, chipper, hosp and starling has fallen to this little guy.

Discovery took its place as the squirrel gun, more power and distance and with the m rod trigger it just feel great all around

Mrod .25 will take the discoverys place, love the feel of it and my brother will be using the discovery when we go out.

Future buys, I really want a condor .25 somewhere down the  road

Am I working to slow our rate of collecting guns? Yes, but it's slowing the rate of collecting powder burners, not air guns. In fact, have been busy selling off some of our PBs and using the money to buy more AGs. Looking down the road, I see air guns becoming our primary guns for our sport shooting.

Given that I'm a diehard springer fan, our HWs would be the last guns I would sell, but our Benjamin/Sheridan pumps would be right there with them. Our 953 I would keep, simply because it would have no resale value, but also because I shoot it a lot.

I'm at the point again where I am going to be getting rid of a few, only this time no giving away....people just don't appreciate it anymore.

My "favorites" have got to be my 850 and 1720T for shooting



 but I love my 880 with metal receiver and metal pump arm and 1983 Christmas Dream for nostalgia.


I do have a coupe hundred in Cabela's points that I want to either pick up one of the BSA's they now carry or a Gamo Coyote. Would also like to get a Hatsan At44 in .22

I've really gotten to where I like the 1740 and 1322. They both do all if what I'd want an airgun to do.

As it is, I am still thinking about adding another 880, oh well.    I am also thinking about crossing the Crosman 2240 off of my list.   I like it for being like the 2289 though in CO2, though I do not shoot it as much as I should, it just is not as useful as the 2289's or 953's.

My .177 disco shorty has replaced my 1740 HiPac as my all round backyard go to. It's been deadly on the backyard big 3 starlings,sparrows and squirrels.

Even though i am a die hard R1 guy, i have to admit that my R7 might be my favorite. As far as my non Beeman R series airguns, i am really enjoying collecting pieces from my childhood.
I have a 760/80  from 1985. I spent many a day harrassing neighborhood strays with that bad boy. I have an all metal 880. This one claimed many a blackbird when i was 16. My Daisey 99 is the first bb gun i ever had when i was 5. Sadly, none of these are THE originol guns from my youth. Those gems all fell victim to the ravishes of time and a hard charging little boy.
I have a 140 just because i thought it was worth saving. These guns are fun in so many ways. They are time machines, unlocking memories long forgotten. From a time when, where you were going to get your next tube of bb's from was s priority on your mind. When that 77 cent tube held all the adventure and excitement you could hope for.

I really feel sorry for these kids today. They are really being cheated. When talking to kids about bb guns, they act like this is taboo.

When i am done getting the handful of shooters i want, i feel confident that they will be fine examples of their kind. They will have a value if only to us. Their quality will be worth preserving for future generations, even if those generations are programmed to be affraid of them.

Bottom line is, they are worth every bit as much to me today as they ever were when i was a kid.

Very nice guns! My personal shooters are now my Benjie 392 (under repair and modification currently) and my stoeger x10.
392: air is indefinite in supply, and I was one of the lucky ones who got a straight shooting late model
Stoeger: i've had this one since I was 19 and it hasn't let me down yet! Back before my eyes got messed up I was picking off dragonflies with it from about 10yrds.

My favorite is an old BSA Meteor but not American.
The USA made airgun I shoot the most is a Daisy 717, a lot more accurate than I ever will be and I like the sound of the pneumatic pop. Followed closely by an old Morton Harris (now Marksman) BB pistol. Great practical short range practice and after shooting it the trigger on my S&W Sigma feels light and crisp!
For long guns a Red Ryder or other lever action Daisy.
Lots of others to shoot but these get used the most.

Lately,I shoot my daisy buck more than anything else.I really like plinking. I can empty it's 400 shot reservoir in an hour of aimed shots.If I get a good price on bb's it only costs 1/8 cent per round. I also like my Crosman 137 & 22  also my B3-1 in 22 cal and my other chinese air rifles in 177.My pump master is a great gun too.Not to mention my pistols.

My C series .20 is still my favorite. It has power and easily repeated accuracy.

Also love my 853 for its simplicity and accuracy.

And, my D34 because its a D34.

Such a hard question to answer and we see it all the time. I traded into a '53 -'54 Crosman 130 pistol awhile back. It had a few issues, nothing major.. I was looking for someone to work on it because... well, because I just wanted it done right. I ended up taking it into the shop today and before I knew it, I was shooting pretty close to the day it was new. Now, I'm not one to ever say, "good enough". I always have to try something else. Before the day was over, this is what I was having the time of my life with... who knows what will be on the menu tomorrow.
An airgun buddy of mine sent me a link the other day and said I might be interested in some of the guns listed. I ended up with 2 nice vintage pistols and a box of random parts. When I got home from work the other day I saw 2, like new Crosman 1077 repeaters in the corner of the kitchen. Can't remember the last time we shot them. Boxed em up and listed them in the classifieds. Point being, I have guns that I'll never part with and I have guns that I have a ton of fun with but they just don't give that warm, fuzzy feeling.
BTW... the shoulder stock was just for fun, it'll be coming back off...
