HW95

Wondering if anybody has got a HW95 recently. Ordered one in the last week of July from AoA. Was told  expect 3 to 4 weeks. Was okay with that. Knew that a lot of people were ordering them based on a good price. Called Friday the 28th. Informed they are still waiting for shipment. Read post today that the shipment maybe 30 days out. Hasnt even left the factory yet. All ready ordered a scope and mounts that should be here  by Friday. What a bummer. Ready to spend a little extra for the HW95 Luxus.

Problem with doing that is the day you get your HW95 Luxus the shipment of 95's will arrive....

Yeah that would be my luck. It just seems like when i get a new air gun, once i get it figured out and shooting like it should. I end up looking for the next project. Shot 4 out of 5 this morning and was very happy with 3. Gonna give up for now on one of them. No future in it. Didnt even take out #5 because i knew what it would do.This has become addicting. Well i will wait a little bit longer. But really want to try a HW out. If it will shoot with my RWS 48 in .177 and in .22 i will be HAPPY.

I recently (a couple months ago) bought a HW95 from AOA on sale and it was indeed about 6 weeks for delivery, however it was worth the wait for the new toy. A week or so after ordering the HW95 I got an email that they were on back order and AOA asked if I wanted to cancel the order. LOL....at $295 + $29 shipping I opted to simply wait till it arrived, especially since AOA wasn't going to charge my credit card till the gun actually shipped. Well, after a few more weeks the charge was made to the CC and the "95" was on it's way!

I actually bought the HW95 to use as a "parts gun" for my several years old R9 (if needed), however I actually prefer the "old style R9 stock", plus the leade of the new HW95 was tighter fitting to the pellet than the R9 so the "95" became the "go to" gun and the R9 is the backup! Here's a pic with the R9 on the left and HW95 on the right.........


Actually, after the dust settles from removing the iron sights, buying scope mounts and fitting an aftermarket muzzle break the cost between the Beeman R9 which includes a fitted muzzle break and set of two piece scope mounts the cost differential isn't as great. Of course, if you want iron sights them the "pure" HW offerings are what you want since the Beeman R9 doesn't even have the tapped holes in the barrel to fit factory irons.

Anywhoo......the HW95 I received was a winner!

If I ever decide to start using a springer for HFT the HW series is what I'll buy. The TX200 is really nice, but the HW97 I shot I absolutely loved. Just fit me better and I liked the cocking effort more.

What caliber did you order. I ordered my .22 on 7/29 and I received it 8/14.

I placed my order on the 27th of July. Ordered the .177. Tempted to order the HW95 Luxus from AoA. Would un $115.00 more. Also considering the R9 in .177 from PYA. That would run me $140.00 more, but it does come with a tin of JSB,s and a resettable crow target. Just would like to put a couple hundred pellets thru it before mounting a scope. With no sights on the R9 would be kind of fruitless. It does come with a set of scope rings and has a muzzle brake. But my scope and rings will be here Fri. Expected the HW95 would be in stock by now. So ordered the scope while it was still on sale. Oh what a hard decision. The more i think the harder the choice.

So order the HW 95 Lexus.  When the regular one comes in either send the Lexus back or cancel the order.  Most places have a 30 day Money Back.....If the regular one takes more than 30 days to get here, you have not been waiting with the thumb up your you know what.....

If the extra coin is not a big factor, the luxus version is a beautiful frauline. Love mine. Good luck

I've been thinking about it as well, but I'm not sure if a bit of checkering and a covered breech block, but without a raised Monte Carlo cheek piece, is worth $200...  Maybe my lost shooting time with an HW rifle is worth it, though.   

Is it at least a real walnut?  Any other goodies I may have missed in the Luxus model?

One issue with "covering the breech block" is that my R9 has a bit of worn bluing on the breech block from rubbing the extended stock when cocking. Actually, not really a "biggie" but here is a pic of my R9 barrel pivot block that had the bluing and metal worn a bit. I did "re-color" the worn bluing with Brownells OxPhoBlue but the worn metal surface is still visible.........

Perhaps a precisely cut and glued Teflon film (http://www.mcmaster.com/#film-(made-with-teflon-ptfe)/=yrmfaw) or solid-PTFE inserts inside the extended stock would prevent the marring?

My R9 could also simply be a "strange duck" since wood does tend to move with changes in humidity etc. Perhaps this issue isn't universal.
