NP2 Shroud question

On my NP2, the outside of the shroud tends to rotate when cocking, is this normal, new to gas piston.  Somehow, it got over tightened bowing out the plastic funnel shaped piece.  When I pulled it out of the should, there were 2 o rings in a groove.  One was stretched and distorted.  I called support and they are sending me two.

The O-rings should not be distorted. I find on my NP2, if the shroud is not hand tighten to aprox the same for each shot my poi will not be consistent.

On mine, I added a small amount of silicone grease to the o rings to aid in reassembly. My baffle bottoms out on the barrel before it does on the tube. I can turn the tube still, but I must mean to. It won't turn by just cocking it.

The shroud can be taken off and should to clean the barrel and shroud.

The shroud CAN spin freely, because there is nothing that locks it in place and prevents it from rotating, other than friction.  However, it should not spin all that easily.

The piece that actually screws onto the barrel is plastic. I used blue locktite on mine to keep it at a constant tension. However, it did break when I had to remove it for cleaning. Crosman sent me a couple free. I guess they are pretty cheap.

On the 1st Gen guns the muzzle brake and shroud cone were aluminum and on the NP2 those 2 pieces are plastic. They are not interchangeable, as the NP2 shroud is actually larger in diameter than the 1st Gen gun's shroud.

I called Crosman about the same issue. Nice guy I spoke with. He told me they are suppose to have red loctite on the threads for the barrel to the baffle. Did it to mine a while back and have not had a problem with it coming loose since. Just don't over tighten, the adapter at the bottom of the shroud with crack.

Mine did it on my NPS. I just stuck an allen wrench (1/4"?) in the cap and snugged it up. I was careful not to overdue it. I don't think I'd use red Loctite on it just blue. Might want to take it off some day.
