I got my first pocket knife when I was 6 y.o. Dad gave me a Boker (tree Brand) three blade knife, and I held on to it for about 12 years before the main blade was too small to sharpen anymore, and I replaced it with a model 7588. In over 50 years, I have had a Boker model 7588 (or equivalent) continuously; 3 knives in total. Bought my 4th model 7588 a couple years ago.

I love Bokers for their workmanship (no slop at the rivetted hinges) and ability to hold an edge. But I have also carried for the last 5 years a Leatherman Skeletool for the occaisional quick fixit jobs ...

Would love to give my son a pocket knife to carry on the tradition like my father did, unfortunately schools these days have a zero tolerance rule on "weapons".

ETA: Kershaw Tremor if I'm going somewhere that I'm concerned about being attacked (mugging, kidnapping, etc...) 3.75" Speedsafe is a lot more intimidating than a 2.5" folding

My step dad always carried a Case, me any knife will do. I do like my Old Timer and she is usually with me.

Skeletool as well. Only multitool I ever found that made a decent pocket knife. Most are square and hurt my hand to use as a knife for much time.

A Schrade my wife bought and had antler applied and engraved. It's 25+ years old. Feel naked without it.

I picked up a boker cera-tec from woot a while back, and it is by far the best knife i've ever owned, and it goes everywhere with me now. The grip, weight, balance, ease of opening/closing and the fact I've not had to sharpen it once, ever, makes it my favorite.

I've done everything from whittle toothpicks to field dress a whitetail with it. It's a really solid piece of gear.

If ,I carry I like to carrya camilus skinner knife with a 4 inch blade. It comes with a sheath which I use. A 5 inch fixed blade is legal to open carry in north dakota.I used to carry one with a gut hook it had a great handle but the gut hook bugged me I use it to cut Carrots and other veggies now.

I get the most EDC use from both a Victorinox Explorer, a Buck 371 (China Buck 301), and a Spyderco Stretch for the bigger chores.
