New AT44S-10 QE - How do you remove the air tube?

From watching the video it sure doesn't look like its at a problem with removing the air tube. Looked awfully easy and I believe it looked like it missed the shroud when Rick removed it.

I really don't know what they are 'supposed' to do- My barrel band only held the air tube not the barrel and it will stack pellets on top of each other  at 30-35 yds, when I do my part on the trigger pulling. It might do better than that even but my yard limits me to the distance and in the bush I don't shoot at paper to get grouping, just at pests or unwanted critters.

Gun came with a Synth. stock that began to crack, I did not try to get a warranty replacement just flitted the bill for  a wood stock and took the barrel band over to the trash can- Bye to the hunk of uselessness - Saying this because MINE broke half way off on one side as it was not a full wrap around design and it got caught on some branches , I was worried at first then i realized these guns are M1a Tank Tough, Not so stinking sensitive as the Disco barrel or the Marauder barrel-


You really just need to yank it out of the stock and twist off the tube and get it done- It is not that bad -

and I do plan on getting at least one extra air tube per platform in case one goes south or I want to extend my hunts with out taking the pump or getting a Great White tank  or Guppy or what ever bottle into the field.

You are not going to hurt the gun  unless you decide to just reef on the the thing upwards, I just pulled my tube off as I was reading your post to remember how much/ or little flex there was in order to get it off the action.

My Hatsans were just the opposite. The barrel bands held the barrel and have an o-ring in the hole for the barrel but the air tube was free floated inside the band.

Thats strange all three of my AT44 had barrel bands that were two complete solid circles.

Yes it was strange, because every picture I have seen and all the paper work that came with the gun looks like what you described  (at44) and the Bt65 is just like yours. I have not taken it off yet as there is still a front sight and now a Baxter LDC and since IT IS a full wrap there is nothing to catch a get broken off

I don't miss that thing and the gun does not either , 
in case it matter , mine was built Feb of 2014- it's a 177 and the QE version same as OP

Doesn't appear to be any problem at all. Of course, his is an earlier model long, while mine is a later model short. I imagine the barrel band on his is farther back from the end. That could make a difference.

Now I'm confused. Is your gun the model with a sight and no shroud or the QE model with shroud and no sight?

I have 2 guns - both of them different from each other-
1- at44 QE short ( OLD ) - 1 band- NON full wrap- Floating barrel. Air tube support- NOW gone

2- bt65 NEWER - 1 band FULL wrap- NON qe- WITH added on LDC- with front sight still because it's not the QE type. and if i pull the scope I use the open sight so the front sight still ride behind the NON oem moderator.


No matter what type you have removal of air tube is the same - except the qe is just a tiny bit tight for room the NON qe wont give you the same issue with spacing...

Did you pull your air tube yet?

There should be only two set screws holding the barrel in place, when I want to remove the barrel for cleaning or to remove the air tube, I just undo those two set screws and slide the barrel out. Fast and easy.

Thanks Baxter- even the vid posted does not show Rick doing the deed, there seems to be an  *edit blib right at the spot where we'd see him do the Air tube removal -

Yeah pulling the barrel is the easiest way, the barrel is self centering, so no problem

At home I can see doing that , yanking the barrel 1st - but I would have no problem pulling the tube in the field when needed in order to do a quick change to keep the hunt going another few clips, or a back up, or one regulator and one not?? etc etc...
