What's interesting to me is the red or yellow (depends on the photo you look at) plug on the unit.  It looks like a cheap oil filled compressor.  What are the chances of oil getting into the air stream and compressed?  A big no-no.

While I realize this is an HPA compressor and not a feeder for something like a shoebox, shoebox does say that the feeder compressor must be oilless.  That is for a reason.  So who would want to take a chance on this unit?

Looks can be deceiving but plug you refer to looks like a place where some type of filter or breather screws in. Note the orange cylinder at that location on the last few units in photo #1. Second videolinked too shows  Orange (?) being screwed into said area.  To the best of my knowledge all three (multi) stage HPA  compressor do in fact use oil of some type for lubrication. Oil lubricating bearings, rods, crank shafts and such is fine as long as it does not go into the compressed air. There are also silicon oils which can be compressed to very high PSI s without danger of explosion however most are not provide high film strength. I add a few drops of silion oil to my Disc's fill nipple  about every 8 to 10 fills. I suspect Some of the silicon oil used on the Shoebox pistons makes its' way thru the compressor..

These compressors may be a pile  of junk or they may be a very good  low cost entry level HPA source. Not that many years ago it was either a several thousands of dollars or more Dive Compressor  or a $400 Shoebox  and small oil less shop compressor.   FYI  There there have been those who used a oil lubricated shop compressor with the Shoebox and I have not read of any of these exploding. Tom K. states  Oilless only for safety and liability reasons same as he states never operate Shoebox with cover removed. Mine and many others are never ran with cover on.

Just my opinion but if air from a oil in the crankcase compressor  is filtered well enough to be used for high  quality spray painting then it contains no oil .


The more manufactures who enter the HPA  compressors for Airguns   market the better it is for us. Besides the ShoeBox compressors are there any which are in fact made in the USA?
