Are any of the First Focal Plane Scopes Designed for Springer Use

Hello,

I just discovered several FFP scopes in the $250.00 range.

BSA and Primary Arms are both offering a models.

I wonder if they can handle the abuse of a springer.

Any thoughts or observations would be greatly appreciated.

 No, don't mount an FFP scope on a springer unless it is airgun rated. I don't know of any FFp spring/airgun rated rifle scopes.

 Just too expensive for me to take such a chance, knowing it will be damaged or destroyed.

there are shock proof ffp scopes out there, but will likely cost you a grand or more.

I have that bsa you mentioned, and everytime it gets bumped hard, i.e. I let the gun fall over.  it has to be re zeroed.  so it definitely wont hold up on a springer

 Shock proof and Springer/airgun rating are not the same, shock proof won't hold up to a spring gun's reverse recoil!

ah, well I have never seen a scope that was labled as "airgun rated" before then.  I have seen shock proof scopes though that can hold up on a springer.

BSA 3-14x44 FFP .... No way !!
Not only that this scope has a VERY limited range in elevation NOT being able to deal with any droop present.

I have Primary Arms 4-14X44 Mil Mil FFP Scope on my x200 and after a week of shooting it is fine knowing a week does not tell you much.

 Just got off the phone with 'Mike' at Primary arms. He stated that the 4-14x FFP model is "Spring gun Rated" and will stand up to any spring gun recoil. So now we do have at least one Spring gun rated FFp rifle scope. 

 Please follow up on your results on the x200 as I may consider  one for RWS 34....?

 I also ask what 'Shock Proof as per advertised' was and 'Mike's answer was...." The 4-14x FFp model could safely handle calibers up to .308 powder burners.....?"

There are lower priced FFP scopes available that are supposedly springer rated but the only one I'd be willing to risk is a SWFA. Can be bought for less as a "Demo". Just take a look at their "Sample List", or better yet, subscribe to it. One of my brother's bought a demo Leupold rangefinder from SWFA that was listed as "Demo B" & he said it was like brand new. YMMV.

Or you can try to find a used one on eBay. Sometimes some great deals. Just be sure there seller has a good rating & is willing to accept returns. But 1st explicitly ask if the scope is airgun rated. Some manufacturers have a lifetime, no questions asked, warranty on their higher end scopes (Bushnell? & Leupold?) but you'd have to find out if the warranty is transferable.
