It's only early February, but I think I got the score of my year.

I bought my very first Beeman R-series rifle today, although you all know that I have plenty of HW's.

It's an R1/HW80, circa 1981-82. I found it in a local gun store. It had a tape label on it that said "needs work".

I asked what their "needs work" price was, bottom dollar, no negotiation.  They came back to me with a price, and I said, "Na", but I can offer you "this".

Three minutes later I have it for my offer (which was $200). 

Nearly mint, it actually did not need any "work".

It's beautiful, no real wear marks to speak of on the stock, and the bluing is perfect. If you were to take it out of a new box, you would hardly notice anything wrong with it.

Someone has added brass cups and Allen head screws to the forearm. I wonder who that could be??

I will definitely be refining and flushing those brass screw cups.

I haven't yet chrony'ed it. I'll do that this weekend, but just my experienced ear, from porch to back fence time period tells me it's shooting right about where it should be.

Well now;

I got to open a package from Flying Dragon today - my first PCP.  I also figured out that my MagnetoSpeed chrony is going to be a PIA with this so I ordered the little FX chronograph for pellet work.  Anticipating lots of testing I also ordered a few more pellets to try.  Tank should be here Monday but I may get to try it out before then.  This is shaping up to be a good weekend!

I ordered this scope Christmas Day.  I didn’t realize that it was out of stock until a few days later when I checked on the order status.  The expected ship date was a couple weeks later.  That day came and went and the next expected ship date wasn’t until March.  I almost cancelled the order but decided to wait it out.  As of this moment, I am pleased that I did.  I mounted this scope on my Wildcat and I have it zeroed for 8.5’, yes, feet 🦶.  It has an illuminated dot in the center.  I’m going to text my neighbors and see if I can hunt rats at their coop.  I’m sure they will approve.  I shot one last night.  It should be easier with this new scope..... I hope. 

Only thing I don’t like about it so far is the white branding.  I may have to look into how to remove/cover it up tastefully.

Nice looking scope, and I like the short range aspect of it.

I hardly think the rats will object to the white branding, but a Sharpie or some electrical tape (applied tastefully of course) should fix that issue.

I finally broke down and bought a high end scope!  Well, high end for me anyway, there are plenty of much more expensive scopes out there, but this is my first $400 scope!  I ordered am Element Optics Helix 6-24X50 MOA SFP to mount on my Maverick when it arrives.  I even have a set of FX No Limit rings to complete the package!  It's going to look like one of those rifles from the YouTube videos!   

Aside from the ATN scopes, the most I have spent on a scope has been about $150 for a Bushnell Trophy.  I really like that scope, so I have high hopes for one that costs more than twice that!

A Canadian buddy found a Daisy wooden ammo box that holds the plastic bags of BB's. 5,000 of'em. Another one on eBay full of BB's is 75 bucks. Too much for me with big bills coming in. But I did find this one. Still cool vintage stuff! I also had to order another trio of those small shelves from amazon to put it on. Got another Colt pistol hanger coming as well. gotta catch up with mounting stuff to display in here. Like my 60's Davison Les Paul guitar from my brother's estate sale. I also found out the Healthways Plainsman 175 pistols have an MX175 Co2 rifle as well! Wood-n-steel as well! Gotta get my amps and guitars down here too. Anyway, here's some pics;

I have the HELIX and I like it.  It’s the most $$$ that I have spent on a scope also.  I feel it was good money spent well.  I also use No Limit rings on my PCPs and I have been very satisfied with them.

I just received my first Vector Optics scope and it’s FFP.  Not sure if I’m a fan of FFP or not.  I’ve only had it less than a day so I really can’t judge yet.  I DO like the scope though. I should look to see if they have a SFP version.....

Thanks for sharing the video, I'm really looking forward to getting it now!  I'm not a big fan of the FFP scopes either, however, I got a couple of the FFP CenterPointe Scopes when Crosman had them on clearance for $90.00 a piece, and they aren't too bad.  My first experience with a FFP scope was the one that came on my Raptor and it was horrible!   At full zoom, the reticle covered the entire 1" dot on the target at 40 yards.  The CenterPointe's are that bad, but I think I still prefer the thinner reticle of the Element and the Bushnell.
