QuoteThe pistol seems pretty nice to me.Don't get me wrong.... I agree 100%There were even national matches won with the Gamo Compact... I am just leery as to what Air Venture conjured up with Gamo to put their "AV"name on it.
The pistol seems pretty nice to me.
When I was a kid, I (briefly) had had an air pistol which I had liked very much. I looked into buying one like it (an Oklahoma, break barrel). I found several on Ebay, and was all set to buy one at $77, which I thought was a little pricey, but the rest of them were over $100. Anyway, I did not bid on it, but was waiting to catch it at the end of the auction. Well, as luck would have it, I wound up in the hospital at the time of the auction, so I missed it. I really didn't want to spend over a hundred dollars on it, so I looked around, and found that the Umarex Browning Buckmark air pistol was very similar to it, and Airgun Angie's review of it sold me on it, but as I shopped around, it was either overpriced and/or out of stock. Not even Umarex showed it in stock. I finally found it at Cabela's in stock, and not too overpriced. So, I pulled the trigger on it at $49.99 (a penny shy of qualifying for free shipping), and it should be here in about a week.
Paid for and in transit...Dated to 1946.That means it is a 75 year old airgun that looks complete and ready for restoration.Just imagine... WWII was ending, soldiers returning home, and this was available to the masses.Right in the same time frame as my 312 Benji.
That’s amazing, Scott! I wonder if any of our members bought one when new? (what make/model/caliber?)
