This sure is a great site! I have tinkered with 4 airguns in the past but I really want to sink my teeth in and get some results, I was thinking of putting some time and effort into mabey a 1377 or a phantom? Anyone have any sugestions?

1377 will get you occupied with tons of mod for this outstanding pumper.

1377 are tons of fun and the mods are endless, anything from mild to wild!

Welcome
They are two completely different guns. Ones a pumper, ones a spring.
The phantom is similar to the Quest, Storm XT, Sierra Pro, G1 extreme, Tac 1 (but i think its a .22) and i think even the Remington Vantage 1200 and Remington Genesis... probably even some more out there. For the most part they are different stocks, muzzle breaks, and names. Some come with scopes, some don't. There is a lot of things to do to them that will keep you occupied (build a spring compressor, then lube tune, Charlie's trigger, etc). If you go this route, i would spend the first 200-500 shots just shooting it as is. It needs to break in and after it starts to group, you can try various pellets to see what it likes. The nice thing is just one cock and you have all the power it will give you.
The 1377 can also be awesome, and since its pneumatic, will give you a lot of different options. Here you will have trigger spring upgrades, breech upgrades, valve and piston upgrades, grip and stock variations, barrel swaps, etc.
I have a quest and a 1377 ... both of which are fun. I would say the 1377 is probably easier for a novice to start playing with, and great for indoors, but can made into a decent little hunting carbine if you want. Pumping gets old pretty quick when i am sitting on the couch plinking though
Either way you can't go wrong... so the obvious answer is... get BOTH.. j/k.
Also, if you consider CO2 guns interesting, you may also look at the 2240 or a qb78. They too take well to modding.
Get the one that appeals to you.
You'll find tons of resources here at GTA.

The 1377 will be a never ending adventure. I'm just finding that out.
