All I can say is my HP made in China is doing just fine, even tho its 6 years old as of now.

For all these nay sayers they best look at the country of origin of all their items in their house including their clothing. Then check out the country of origin of the components of their vehicle regardless of where it was assembled.

I love my Chinese breakbarrel, and I've had many other guns made in China that exceeded my expectations. That being said, people buy Weirauch because they know it is a high quality product, made to a higher standard of higher quality materials, the same way they have been made for a very long time. You look what happened to Webley in Turkey, and what happened to BSA springers in Spain, add to that the RWS 12 land barrel debacle and what do you get? If I have the choice between spending $300 on a Chinese HW95 or a German Diana 34, the choice is easy to make. As soon as they start outsourcing, things will probably go downhill. Getting what you pay for applies to factories as much as it does to consumers.

I am a paint maker. You would not believe the stuff we get from China. The top 8 to 10 bags on a pallet of raw materials is grade "A" material, but you check the bottom of the pallet and you will find junk. It is as if they want you to catch them and say something about it. I find the people who get burned the most are the lazy ones, they check the top bag and then unload the truck. I have trained many people and always teach them to sample the lower 1/3 of the middle pallets.

They usually end up thanking me for saving them the headaches of finding the problem of a batch that went wrong.

The other bad thing about buying material from China is you pay 1/2 up front & the other 1/2 when it hits port and you are stuck with it.

Personally : Mind you ,if there is any truth to the "Rumor" Forget HW. As it is I will not buy another one .....I'm happy with all that I have. That could change too.
But Chinese parts are the same as Chinese food---- it all ends up being Poop!

Yes surely somebody on this forum has the ability (brain power) to track this down. As the "Bulb" I do not qualify in the brain power program.

I looked at some websites on the German internet. With my dreadful, bad German and a very poor translation program, I found that there are:

1. Similar discussions going on about the same information report as being discussed here with equally poor information
2. There were similar discussions in 2012 and in 2010 about Weihrauch moving production to China with no results???
3. German shooters were talking about exactly the same things as here. Bad idea & will ruin the product. Buy your gun now before they go to China. Goodie Goodie they will be cheaper! I'll never buy another! I'll buy 2 instead! etc.
4. They have no more concrete information than we do.

My suggestion is to hug your rifle, or Teddy Bear, and wait for more information before you panic.

This is really getting ridiculous, let's hold off for the truth to surface. By the way, we are talking about air guns here .... not air bags or brakes for your car, not parachute manufacturing, or the purification of our water .... we are talking about air guns, no one is going to die over this. If Weihrauch closed down tomorrow, so what .... they make air guns. We still have AA, Beeman, and Walther that make a good springer .... oh yeah .... and we still have all the other companies, and Chinese companies, that make the lower end, lower quality rifles.

Pappy you mention Beeman. The only good Beeman's out now are the"R" series made by HW and imported by AirVenturi(PA). All the other Beeman's are Chinese. Ok guns but not anywhere near "R" gun quality.

The scary thing is how much information these Chinese companies (and by default, the Chinese government) could have, based on their marketshare of these technology products.

I know this thread topic is probably just a hoax, but I personally have problems with Chinese-made products. It's not to do so much with quality, as I know the Chinese-built Remington Express I examined had pretty good build quality (as do the aforementioned Apple products). There are many other issues with China in general.
- Lack of respect for intellectual property and patents
- Industrial espionage and hacking
- Lax environmental controls (when the world isn't looking during the Olympics)
- Questionable labor conditions
- Repression of political dissent
- Health-related issues in Chinese products (lead in children's toy paint, hazardous drywall, etc)

I'd wager you could get a better built product for the same amount of money if it came from China rather than from Germany, the USA or UK, but at what price?

I was referring to the "R" series being up there with the AA, and Walther, in regard to a quality rifle. Thank you for the clarification.

Something I've always questioned regarding lead paint on a toy. If all the paint was removed from the toy and everything other than the lead removed just how big a pile of lead would we have?

I grew up with no fear of lead as most everyone in my generation did, and we are the ones that put a man on the moon.

Wonder if the pioneers went into a panic when little Jonney got into daddys muzzleloader balls?

I may be paranoid but the thought of China as a world power scares me. Their population is massive. They a fairly new in manufacturing and getting better and better at it. Their learning ability by hacking into worldwide computer systems is only making them stronger. If and when the dollar crashes there goes my comfortable retirement. JMO

I work in the paint industry and lead is bad. Thank goodness the states have removed lead even for their road paint. It is bad for the people dealing with it & their families.

I need to add more information on the lead contained in paint. I know people have different opinions. When we were growing up we did not wear helmets when riding, but it is proven that helmets saves lives. Same is true with education of the lead in paint.

Due to containing both lead and hexavalent chromium, lead(II) chromate is profoundly toxic.

Lead(II) chromate is a poison, and can be fatal if swallowed or inhaled.

Lead(II) chromate is a known carcinogen, developmental toxicant, and reproductive toxicant. It is also suspected that lead(II) chromate is a cardivascular or blood toxicant, immunotoxicant, kidney toxicant, neurotoxicant, respiratory toxicant, and a skin toxicant or sense organ toxicant.
