Christmas in July!

I just got a shipment of two different Molds today. One, a 5 cavity NOE RD mold that I sent in to Eric at HP Mold Service to have all 5 cavities HP'd. It's going to make a Kick Butt Varmint Bullet for We .257 AG Shooters!

I'll clean her up and cast/test bullets this weekend. If all goes well, I have a couple of test to conduct with them. I will be offering limited amounts of these here on the forum "IF" they meet my requirements. And I'm pretty darned picky. LOL

The second mold is a fairly rare NOE bullet that is very similar to the Ideal 102 gr. Spire Point bullet that RJ and Tofazfou have had such good luck with. If it does well, I may very well deck the mold down about 15-20 grains and have half of the cavities HP'd as well. It's a 4 Cavity, in typical NOE High Quality. (I talked to AL at NOE about the possibilities of what I was wanting to do with this bullet, and he was very helpful in the plan for it).
This should be an excellent wind buck'r. With a Very High BC.

Still testing. So far, Outstanding!
A foolish squirrel jumped up on a stump I have at 55 yards for short range testing and I sent the 80 gr. NOE HP down range at his head. He was thrown about 3 feet behind the log, so I couldn't see his reaction. I waited a few minutes and walked down range to take a look. OK, a good hole just behind the left eye. I turned him over and Holy ---- No left side of the head. The brain pan was totally empty. Only a few pearls of brain matter several feet behind the stump. But most of it was simply vaporized. Who says that there is No Hydro-Static Shock under 1700 fps! LOL

Tried it on a one gallon water jug at the same range, and the bottle was shreaded in several places, with bits of lead in the bottom of it. Looks like energy transfer to me.!

Accuracy wise, it is shooting on average, 3/4" at 75 yards, with some groups coming in under 1/2", Not bad for such a huge hollow cavity. Not bad at all!

I was looking for a bullet that could handle vermin here on the property, and dump energy quickly. I wanted them DRT! This Bullet is going to shine!

My original intention, was to mill the mold blocks down to throw the bullet at 69-72 gr. But even at 80 Gr, I am getting 1000 fps, with explosive performance. Perfect, with the added bonus of better wind bucking than the lighter bullet could have given. A BIG plus here in Central Texas.

The new NOE Spire Point was coming in at 104 gr, and while it shot well, I simply didn't have the Horse Power to shoot a decent string with it. It would drop about 3/8" with ever shot, and was an Air Hog. LOL

I milled the blocks to throw it at 81 grains, while having a rebated boat-tail. A nice bullet!

It fit the breach loosely and gave shot gun patterns. LOL

The next day, I tried a larger sizing die that made it fit like the cork in a bottle. The first three shots were disappointing. One hit on the target, and the other two missed. High winds I know, But completely off the 9x9" target backer?

Well I went down range to change out the target, and imagine my surprise and elation when I saw a slight oval in the target. I walked back, held the rifle firmly and watched the next bullet disappear thru the same hole. The next shot, missed the hole, but did still graze it. Making for a one hole 5 shot group.

I have yet to chrono the Spire-Point. It weighs 2 grains more than the NOE 80 grain'er, yet fits the breach better. It will be interesting to see the results.

I would love to see this bullet with a HP in it. Although it is a true spire point, it does have a tiny meplat on the nose. Very similar to a Speer Varmint Bullet. It should be rather explosive in flesh if a good hp is given to it.

I will try and take pic's this week. No smart phone, so it takes some doing, but I'll Get'r Done.

Got to chrono the NOE RD at 80 gr. and the NOE Spire Pt at 81 gr.
Strange as it may seem, The RD is sized smaller to get it to fit the breach, and gets 996 first shot. The heavier, and larger dia. Spire poiint is going 1016!

Things that make you go HUH?

Going to have a die made for the NOE to bring it down a touch. Rolled some of them between two precision steel plates to the size I wanted, and Woo-H00! It worked beautifully.

concerning new mold... My friend TPL did CAD drawings from that old Ideal mold. IRC that same bullet worked well in Tofazfou's .257. It is 98gr HP. I got picture that bullet in my avatar second to left. So I send that drawing to NOE bullet molds and i got answer from Al yesterday that He may have time to work it next week. So if anybody is interested that mold I can give a notice when/if it goes group buy in NOE's forum. Need 10 buyers to get that mold.

That is a old mold and I get it by luck I think they stop making it something like 50s.

Driving bands are too wide which adds drag Iam sure knife will chime but I think he say the same. Other than that it looks real good and should work just my opinion. If the driving bands gets made thinner I would try them.

Actually, that isn't the bullet Cedric was shooting. Similar,but not the same. The bullet Tof, was shooting is very pointed. It was avaliable in both 88 and 102 gr. Yes, his (some of them) were HP'd, but he tried both.

The bullet I am using is the same as the one you picture, BUT with smaller driving bands. Think almost identical to the 257420 in the driving bands, and otherwise, very, very close to the pic you posted. The Best of Both words, and it is already in stock!

I sent Tof some of the new Spire Points in both the 102 and 81 grain configurations to test. Hope to hear back from him soon.

I've shot both versions of the Ideal, in both nose profiles. It is a TACK Driver. But not one bit more accurate than the NOE, which is faster due to smaller driving bands. And leads less.

We all know how accurate the 257420 is, now imagine the 420 with a tiny flat, one a long spire point. Talk, about a good BC!

When you check the pics, take a look at the BC. Woah!!!

I milled my mold down to be even lighter than the smaller Ideal bullet # 257318, 81 grs. Verses the Ideal 257318 88 grains. But if you have a gun that can handle it, the 100 is ultra accurate as well. But in my gun, it dropped apx. 1/4" to 3/8" with ever shot. The 81 grain will put 5 thru a LESS than dime size hole. Gotta Love it!

The org. isn't hp. Eric at HP mold service does the work on them. Going to send out the new spire point next month. Still testing the flat nose RD. It is both accurate and Explosive.

Ok now I'm confused.... I believe it was that same Ideal mold. I talked RJ-porter via email a while ago when I read somewhere that He has that same Ideal mold and I asked Him where He bought that mold. Because I believe that was same bullet which Tofazfou is using. But You are probably right.

I think I got all NOE's .260 molds included 1 Ranch Dog mold what They have on list. I'm not having tested all those I have some issues with probes o-rings and I need to get that gun to my friend back for repairing and He tough He make a different probe with bigger o-rings

Ans I also try look that Ideal mold for this site but I didint find it... Or I missed it

Yeah, just get the mold number from RJ. It is the IDEAL one and i think RJ did the HP PIN conversion for it. WHATEVER 98 gr IDEAL SPITZER RJ PORTER HAS IS "THE" ones I shoot. I have hundreds of them. I HATE THAT MOLD THOUGH cause its a single cavity and its temperamental on how and when it drops bullets......lol!

OK. Thanks Tofazfou. Those Ideal mold is very hard to find...RJ told me He bought that mold on eBay... I find my mold one company which sells lots of black powder items and also used molds

I hope I find that Spitzer Ideal mold some day..

It is the same drawing, only nose lengthened to form a spitzer The model bullet I originally draw was HP.

CAD mass calculation says this would be very close to 98 gr from wheel weight or similar alloy.
