Your right ... weighs more than a Softball bat tho about equal in length.
One heck of a club shanking golf balls too
Now if used as intended ... WOW not so bad flinging pellets where aimed !!
Those Brits did pretty well

Indeed. Why else shoot one? I suppose another purpose of shooting a gun is celebratory gunfire, but for that the TX is unsuited.

Yeah, the size and weight of a TX with a scope is not for the faint of heart. Really makes it tough to fit in a gun safe. Been thinking about getting the TX a safe all its own, in fact.
Seriously, though, sure is nice to have a gun that makes it a stretch to find a negative.

A sniper rifle weighs about sixteen pounds, unscoped, without a bipod or anything- completely naked. A scope and bipod can take it well over 20 pounds. Not talking about a barret, but a .300 win mag. Why did they make something that a two man team carries for miles behind enemy lines, alone, so heavy when there are lighter and more rugged rifles available with more power? Accuracy and stability, obviously. You really can't complain about a rifle that weighs about nine pounds when it i s balanced right and it's accurate. Especially if it's as beautiful as a TX and doesn't require a pump... just pellets and gun. It is beautiful and equally functional.

The TX200 & HW97K are my favorite spring piston rifles.
Both are heavy and accurate. I also put my best scopes on each.

I have found a flaw with the mighty TX 200.
After shooting every day for nine months. At least 10,000 shots. The bluing is getting thin under the cocking lever. Yes it has developed a patina.
I guess it's something I will have to live with

I'll bet that is acid from your hand. I don't wipe mine down after shooting all the time either. If all the bluing comes off my action, and the stock looks like it was beaten with a chain ..... I don't care ..... as long as it remains accurate. It's not a closet queen, you use it ... and after a while, it should look used. I even put a lot of bling on mine .... how dumb is that ... it's just a BB gun.

I wipe and oil after each use. I also have a lot of moisture absorbing paper. I live in a VERY humid climate and the whole gun would rust if I did not. This is just from pushing the lever closed .
I can polish it smooth and re blue it. But like you said. If it's accurate leave it alone.

Yes the TX200 is on the stout side but we are talking one of the best springers on the market , as a comparison the M1 Garrand semi automatic battle rifle carried by US troops from WWII to Vietnam were 9.5 lbs unscoped and nobody that carried one of them around 24/7 complained that they were too heavy
They also had a minor flaw the ammo clip made a distinct ping as it ejected from the rifle.
