guppy tank problem

any one know why my guppy air tank vents air at about 3800psi and will reseal at around 2000psi.  this is a 4500psi tank and the shoebox is set to shut off at 4500psi. it has done it 2 out of the last 4 times I have filled the tank. this gets very annoying considering how slow the shoebox fills the tank just to lose all this air and have to start over again.

Try Removing the hose purge valve and make sure it has no debris and the seal is clean

Tank vents or the Shoebox , sound like the Shoebox.  If it is the Shoebox then I would suspect the air bleed assembly . Do you know where the air is leaking from as in the cover was off and  you were watching it when this happened?

I am a new SB Max owner  but have spent many hours reading up on them and mine is still running great , in fact much better than the performance specifications posted on thier web site.

This is definitely the tank, I was there when it happened.

 By you description it's leaking only while your trying to fill it. Where about on the tank is it leaking? Sprinkle some water on it while it's leaking to find the leak.

it is not a leak, it is large release of air all at once and than it seals back up at around 2000psi.

What kind of valve? Tell us what you have. A guppy tank can mean a lot of things. Regular valve, Slo-Flo, or regulated.

you have to tighten the bleeder valve down with pliers then it will fill to 4500
it is the bleeder valve nylon has taken a set  that allows the air out at a certain pressure
it will also take pliers to open when you fill the gun
Joe has new ones and are a real pain to replace
both of mine did the same thing

  With the tank valve closed completely remove the bleeder valve and clean the valve and valve seat and whatever you do do not ovet tighten the bleeder it should not require more than hand tight. Mine had some gunk in there that was not allowing the bleeder to seal tight

well I took out the bleed valve and cleaned it good and put it back in and it took a 4500psi charge, I hope this solves the problem if not I will have to order a new bleed valve from Joe.

Mine has been fine for over 10 months since cleaning it
