I keep reading here how popular and accurate JSB pellets are and was about to purchase a bunch, i've been using H&N up till now. But now i'm hearing rumors about the quality dropping off and just found this post on FB which is worrying. Anyone noticed any issues?

I have not heard any rumor about JSB, they make a great product.
To date I have not had any issues with any JSB product
They work great in my stuff..

I recently received 2,000 JSB .22 18 gr. pellets from PA and they are fine.

I did not see what the issue was since you have to join but I got a chuckle that it is Custom Crosman group and the first thing I noticed is 2 of the guns in the photo have sub $30 optics without an AO... I wonder how much that might have to do with it?

Jsb pellets are the best pellets out there. I really like the Air Arms as well. Oh and AA pellets are made by JSB. If you wanna save a few dollars buy AA pellets. At 50 yards I rarely ever get a flyer with them.

I just recently received 1100 pellets 500 of the 15's and 600 of the 18's. They shoot just as fine as my old tins that where running low. The H&N's I find to be excellent in a few of my rifles too. So either or are a good choice to me.

I check out airgungurus.com and IMO they are not a reliable source.

FaceBook wants to not visit, they require registration (ie give them identifying info) to even look at their forum. Their "about" page is blank,

My guess, best case they have an ax to grind, worst case they may infect your machine with malicious code.

I'm just a noob, but I've shot quite a few pellets through both my PCPs, a springer and a pumper. The JSB pellet has become my go-to pellet for all my guns, so this post is interesting. I hope JSB continues to make quality pellets and that these reports/rumors aren't true!

Don't worry about rumors. People are far too responsive to rumor, gossip, and innuendo. I don't do facebook, but I suspect the source of the report is this account: http://airgungurus.com/2015/07/04/jsb-in-trouble/ . Airgun Gurus, a new UK-based forum has a thread, now going on three pages, (http://airgungurus.boards.net/thread/744/jsb-trouble-agg-exclusive) without conclusive information. JSB pellets, like every other brand of pellets, have inconsistent lots. Same thing can happen with match ammo for .22LR.

I just sold 9 tins of 8.44 grain supposedly 4.52mm JSB exacts because I was finding a large variation of pellet fit to the leade of my R9 springer. The Exacts fit rather loosely anyway however one particular tin gave me two dry fires at a THAGC ft match when the loose pellets flipped out of the R9 leade upon latching the barrel. I know this to be the case because I started paying attention and I had a third Exact "flip out" but another Exact was loaded instead of just shootin' an "air pellet"! During that match I shot a dismal 13/60 using Exacts from that tin so I thought that perhaps the spring broke with the two dryfires. Getting home I broke the R9 down and could find no problem at all so the low score is a real puzzler.....even with inconsistent fitting Exacts. Opening up another tin of Exacts I found the fit much more consistent but the pellet head sizes were undersized compared to the Air Arms version. With the Exacts only a few actually measured 4.52mm (as measured with my iGaging digital calliper) but with the Air Arms version most measured the listed 4.52mm!
After measuring a bunch of JSB Exact pellet heads this is the spread I had.........

Measuring another lot of supposedly 4.52mm JSB Exacts there were none that measured 4.52mm but a lot measured 4.49mm to 4.50mm........

As a side note, I noticed that the earlier tins of JSB Exacts actually had a "head size sticker" on the back of the tin (that was the tin with the wild variation in head sizes), however the newer batch of Exacts had no head size listed........hummm, perhaps they learned something.........

Anywhoo....one of the reasons I switched from CPLs was the last two cases I bought had excess parting compound on them which required an extra "washing step" so I tried the JSB Exacts and found that the initial tin I bought shot very accurately and didn't need either washing or lubing so I made a couple "buy 4 pay for 3" purchases thinking that I was finished with the Crosman pellets. After the "JSB dry fire incidents" with the Exacts I ordered case of die lot marked and dated 7.9 grain Crosman Premiers, and to my delight, I found that they didn't have excess parting compound on them (or whatever turned my loading fingers black). I actually thought that I would have to wash the CPLs like the previous two cases I bought so I washed a 1250 count box of pellets and this is what the "wash detergent" looked like after the wash.........

Delighted that the CPLs were actually clean once again I ordered three more cases since a good fitting CPL has always been the most accurate pellet from my HW springers!

I weighted 3 tins of JSB 18.13g pellets and ended up with 3 tins of differing weights. After weighing 2000 pellets I did not have the motivation to measure them as well.

Another member in chat was commenting about problems with the JSB pellets as well.

There are likely "X" cases of tins with fine pellets. I and a few others have gotten tins that were not up to the standards we have grown to expect.

I dont know? I know that here were two different skirt thickness for the .25cal kings, That did concern me with consistency. You might get a tin of one or the other mixed in, and not knowing this your groups would change. Then there was the King Heavies that are being fixed? I have not stopped to measure any but the King Heavy.
We just have to wait and see....

I know that JSB is in fact looking into any issues and that JSB isn't in any troubles whatsoever. Any manufacturer of pellets can have pellet issues. So lets see how this issue is addressed and if the person in the UK can prove any of what they said.

I have certainly noticed minor variations in JSB (and Air Arms) pellets from batch to batch, to the extent that it does cause legitimate, reproducible degradation in groups from my rifles as compared to another batch. Michael Thomas has used some sophisticated equipment such as an optical comparator and laser scanner to analyze them and noted differences as well.

But you know what? Even with those variations, JSB pellets are still the best-grouping pellets in my rifles overall and judging by the perponderance of what others say, they are still the gold standard to which other pellet manufacturers should aspire.

Sure, I've gotten tins of JSB's that did not group to my satisfaction in any of my rifles but that is rare, and surely more rare than any other brand I've tried. H&N is the only brand that has come close. But even when I got a "bad" tin of JSBs, measuring the heads revealed they were very consistent in size and a visual inspection showed they were not deformed or plagued with molding defects. So I just chalked it up to "well, my rifles don't like this batch.". And indeed, sometime later I'd be tuning a rifle for someone or just out shooting with a friend and we'd find a rifle that shoots great groups with that "bad" tin.

That said, surely JSB puts out a bad batch from time to time. No one's manufacturing and QC systems are perfect. But like the saying goes, the race doesn't always go to the swift...but that's the way to bet. So I'm betting on JSB

I like to call example to my only purchase of Crosman boxed pellets. 3 boxes of 10.5gr heavies. These much-vaunted pellets made from a single die to Crosman's highest standards had a head size variation of over 0.05mm and were rife with molding defects (flashing at the parting line and tails hanging off the skirts). I don't think they are representative of Crosman's quality in general but I'm going to need a long cooling off period before I take a chance on them again. So it's perfectly understandable to me if someone has a bad experience with JSB and chooses to not do business with them.

A few scattered bad experiences do not a bad manufacturer make.

I just ordered 8 tins from PA. I shot groups from each of the tins, and they appeared fairly consistent. However, of the several thousand JSB 18.13gr Exact Kings that I have ordered, there are always between 5 - 20 pellets in each tin with deformed skirts or misshaped pellets. Despite this, they are still the best pellets for my Talon.

I pretty much shoot only JSB's and CPUM. They Both seem to shoot well in everything I have; the JSB's being more universal.
Unless Baxter (whom, I think uses them exclusively) starts complaining about accuracy at 100+ yards, I'll keep on using 'em.
Now, if only that NUT behind the trigger could be as good, I'd be all set.

Thats all I use are JSB, I have tried many pellets, the 18.13gr are still very accurate. The 25.4gr I like the thicker skirt ones better. The only issue that I have ever had was with the King Heavy in which they were like lighting to address....Even a bad JSB is better then most pellets
