Crosman model1 FINISHED!!

I finally got home, yesterday, and, tore into the package, from Rob112o. I've been wanting one of these, for a long time. I must say, I wasn't disappointed  . first order of business, scope it, and, oil it up. After an initial sight in, I was able to put 5 shots in almost the same hole, at 14 yds., with RWS superdomes. The average velocity is 653 fps., with the domes. pretty darn sweet  .
I intend to tear it down, and, refinish it. Someone, ( not Rob ), did a wet poor job of it. they assembled the gun, THEN painted it. And, not very well, I might add. I have some red mahogany stain, that I'm using on a restoration of a silver streak, ( not mine, unfortunately ). I think I'll use that on the model 1. it really made the grain "pop", on the streak. When used on walnut, it makes the wood more of a reddish brown, not unlike a proper maple looks. Really pretty.
It also seems like the pump arm is worn, a little. Does anyone know if the pump arm/linkage from a 2100 will fit? If not, I may try to make a bushing for it.
 I'm glad I took this little gem in trade. Overall, it's in very good shape. It just needs a little TLC.

Nice AirGun you have there-
 I was given one of those a couple of summers back by an uncle that had it since new,
But, he taken it apart and it did not work.
After ordering all the stuff needed from Crosman,
(all seals and a new valve)
I cut down a 13xx exhaust seal to fit and put it back together,
{that was very hard to do}
Well it worked for about a dozen shots then stopped sealing again,
Because it is so hard to put back together,
I have not tried to put it back together after pulling it apart,
so the new parts and it just sit while I play with other air guns
I know I'm BAD, but,
Crosman must have had somebody with three arms and a helper monkey to build those guns.

The trick is to assemble everything in the right half, except the trigger. I also removed the lever that blocks the trigger, when the bolt is open. Makes life a whole lot easier. It also helps to have the barell band in place to keep the two tubes in line. Maybe I'm wrong, but it works for me.

thanks . it takes 10 pumps to get 650. I had to order a new pump linkage, the old one was too egged out to make it worth trying to repair. should be interesting to see what it's capable of, when the headspace is eliminated. I also stuffed the piston, and eliminated the slop in the connection between the plastic and metal halves, of the piston, with a shim, cut from a plastic milk jug. I'm thinking I should see closer to 700 fps on 10 pumps.
I'm still trying to figure out how to eliminate the air loss, around the bolt. they have no o-ring, and, no way to attach one. I may have to start a thread, to get some help, with that.

thank you very much  . the stain looks a little more reddish, on this stock, versus on the silverstreak. the ss looks more like a proper maple, whereas this looks more like cherry. I still like it, though.

  Here's how I do the 766 and 2100s.   A 2200/Model 1 would use a 5mm ID x 1.5mm C/S O-ring instead of the 4.5mm ID.   The back end of the bbl will need ~1.4mm removed, as the OD of the bbl is right at 8mm.

the problem with that is, the breech on the 2200/model 1 barrel is tapered, and the bolt is an entirely different configuration. think of a lower case " t ", with the top of the " t " being the pellet probe and, the cross bar being the seal area. not much to work with.
I'm thinking along the lines of a flat Viton washer epoxied to the front of the cross bar, to make contact with the breech, sooner, thereby creating a better seal. just have to find one small enough to do the job.

With the energy you are getting from that gun, I don't think much is being lost around the bolt.

I own a few.. and have even built one from scratch using ALL NOS parts..including the stock and forearm!

Now, IF I could only find a 766W................

I still have the 760/20 I got new for christmas in 1985 (they will make a great pair)!
The model 1 dates to Sept 81, was stored away with care over the decades.
Owner said it was fired 4-5 times but was untouched (just oiled and stored for all that time).
Found it on craigslist (last CL vintage crosman score was a crosman 600 about two years ago).
They had it listed for $75.......I didnt even haggle.
Just thanked them and told them it found a great home.



Have a few vintage pumpers, always looking for more project builds.
