Crow Decoy

This morning about 8am I was in the easy chair enjoying the first cup of coffee for the day.  As I thought about the day I was startled by several loud crow calls.  They came from close by, very close .  I thought what the heck, they sound right outside the window.  I went to the front window and peered into the yard.  To my surprise there were several crows in the dogwood .  Cawing like crazy.   It reminded me of the scenes from the "Birds" movie.  What have I done now I thought.  Are they here to get me for shooting one of thier kin?    Then I notice one crow on the ground near some low bushes.  What is he doing I wondered.   After a few moments of fooling with something on the ground he flew up into the dogwood and then they flew across the street.  Cawing the entire time.   Curious I checked out where the crow had been on the ground.   I found a black plastic bag that the wind had blown into the yard and had lodged under the bushes.   I can only guess that the crows thought it was a fallen brother and had tried to get him to rally. Must have been at least 12 crows involved in the event.  All cawing like all get out.  Very strange.   Would not have thought crows could be attracted this way.

they will scavenge also. either thought it was a down crow or maybe food.

Take some 20oz pop bottles and cut some wings and tail from a 2 liter and glue them on spread eagle style. Paint them black and toss them out like dead comrads. You could tie a some fish line to a couple to make them twitch and move. Combine that with a little calling and you will some fun. Make that you have you have a VERY good hide.

Yea they love trash night in some areas , they poke the bags open .   But who know's, may have thought it was a Bro.

It may have thought it was a downed buddy. I checked out some vid's on Crow decoys and one guy used coat hangers and black plastic bags. He bent the hangers into bird shapes and placed the bag over it. Ed
